An easier solution is to boot Steam in offline mode and then open the mod. Same thing for all non-Steam Portal 2 mods, actually, since this issue is caused by the game thinking "I'm subscribed to workshop maps but none exist in this maps folder, therefore I must download them all."

But the best solution (at least on Win 10/11 and I think Linux) is to use a symlink. You can make a special shortcut in the mod's maps folder to make the game redirect to the normal workshop folder, and therefore not try to download anything. HowToGeek has a tutorial on making symbolic links. The soft link (the /D one) works for me. You have to run the command individually for every mod to generate its unique shortcut, but it's super worth it to not have to worry about redownloads or going offline.

Weirdly enough it seems to be working for me now. Maybe the Feb 28 update Portal got fixed it?

Hmm, I guess that'll make the warp zone easier to find.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was it--I've been booting Steam in offline mode for the last several weeks whenever I want to play a Portal 2 mod, and that prevents it from happening. (I edited that comment so many times while I was trying to figure out what the heck was happening, lol.)

If I were to hypothetically re-record the mod dialogue with a few relevant edits, would you mind me uploading it here as an addon?

(And if you don't mind that, could I also ask what this word is in 'as with all test subjects'? "up to four thousand degrees Kelvin, in an [???] range between zero and fourteen." I can't quite decipher it.)

Same. :/ I even put -num_edicts 4096 in launch options and that only bought me another 20 seconds or so.

What specifically is wrong? Like, is the New Game option missing, or does it not load when you select a chapter, or what?

That's what happens when people use memes instead of logical release numbers, I guess.

Thanks for packing it into a proper mod!

(I wish the coop map was actually solvable. I can get the grate up top to flash with blue lights, but after that, I have no clue. Nothing I tried did anything after that, and players can't fall through the grate.)

Oh man! First I accidentally find out about Portal Reloaded a couple days ago, and then that reminded me to check Moddb and I shrieked out loud when I saw this had released! HYPE TO PLAY

Edit post-playthrough: Puzzle updates were near all fabulous, with the only exceptions being the bottom half of Chamber 23 (difficult jump and unfortunate autosaves) and two minor things elsewhere. Really appreciated you including the dialogue so we could reinstall it if desired! The real issue for me while playing was that I appear to be suffering from some sort of memory leak, which meant I had to quit and reopen the game every few chambers.

Thank you for all the years of fun!

I really love this mod, but...why is the door between Chambers 9 and 10 broken? Logically it should connect to the beginning of Map D and lead you through Chambers 2, 1, and 25. But it doesn't, and the only way to actually access those chambers is to specifically choose Part D from the start menu and take the left portal. Also, Chamber 4 is uncompletable in the final release because the box spawns outside the tube, which is odd, since it works in the first version.

Still a great mod. I just wish I could save the radio without cheating.

Never mind, fixed it, apparently buildcubemaps can't handle 640x480 resolution. XD

specular 0 removes the pink/black, but buildcubemaps crashes my game. Help? Or do I just have to turn off specular forever? I tried the dxlevel thing and it doesn't help.

background1 (maybe background2, but I haven't checked that one) throws a "not precached" error, making it impossible to even load the menu unless you delete the background map from the map folder. Deleting the map will remove the custom menu screens, but make the mod playable.

(leaving this here in case another non-mapper has the problems I did)

I hadn't played this in like, a year and a half, because my hard drive crashed and I lost it, so I finally came back to download it...and there was a new episode.

I *SCREAMED*. Literally, out loud, screamed.

CANNOT. WAIT.

I seem to recall there once being a model to turn Chell into GLaDOS, i.e. have a Miku-GLaDOS player-character. Does that still exist? I lost mine when my hard drive.
