Joystick and keyboard is my preferred method to play for a while. The capital ships are fine with mouse and keyboard. I've never used a controller and haven't heard of anyone mapping it. I would try and research how to get your controller to be "detected" as a joystick by the game or PC.

Mik has said before he will make this mod for X4. It's his "Life's Calling". I don't know what the timeline for that will be though. Scripting and modding is obviously still in infancy for X4.

I think he put it on hold because he is working on the new total conversion mod for Stellaris called "Star Wars: Fallen Republic". He does fully intend to finish this mod but will do so once the SW: Fallen Republic team have finished their mod.

This is true. I experienced that on my last playthrough and reverted back to Improved Races 2.0. I've never had any issue using the Improved Races 2.0 mod with the Star Wars Mod. It has always worked well for me. The only issues I've had are the same ones that I have in vanilla X3 and they are seldom. DO you have any crazy issues with Improved Races 2.0? I will say that the Xenon and the pirates get CRUSHED 99.9% of the time once I set the AI loose on the galaxy...

Hey Mik,

The Phanon Corporation behavior sounds like something you were looking for that would fit the Sith faction. It could be interesting to have a Phanon Corp style "Sith Invasion" similar to when Revan and Malak return from the Unkown Regions with the fleet from the Star Forge. Regardless of how it is implemented, it seems the aggressive/competitive behavior would fit the Sith well. Forum page here: Forum.egosoft.com

I love this list it is very helpful! I'm going to try a playthrough using the Overtake Sectors Mod instead of Improved Relations 2.0. I want to mix it up and see which I prefer in the Star Wars mod.

I have a forum post that I started where people can reply with mods they use and know are compatible with the mod that I'll add to the corresponding Google Doc that contains a living list of compatible scripts and mods. It should be a good place to start and with others contributing it will quickly become quite a long list.

I also want to add a simple tutorial on the plugin system because for new players it can be intimidating especially since there is an overwhelming amount of scripts, plugins, and mods for the game.

#2 happens with more ships than just the Venator. I know the Acclamator and another ship do it as well. I have it recorded on video. Additional Lasers spawn with each trigger pull from a distance away from the ship.

This frequently happens when there is a bug/glitch on your install of the mod. I'd do a clean install of X3 and the mod and it should fix your problems.

You'll want to disable "auto assign" or "allow turret switching" or something along those lines in the options menu. This option allows/commands the AI to decide how many and what type of weapon to use to engage enemies. Not sure if it ever really worked well in vanilla but it DOES NOT WORK WITH THE MOD.

I've tested this on countless ships, with varying weapons groups, against all different classes of enemy vessels and the results are the same.

The mod must alter how the AI interprets the weapons because there's no other explanation why I as engage a Xeon I my ISDII decides to ditch its MASSIVE Imperial Turbo lasers for Taim & Bak KX10s!!!!!!

R.I.P. Excelsior... She sure was a good ship...

Bounty Hunter's Guild is currently incompatible with the mod. There are lots of other compatible plugins that you can use via the XPluginManager by Cycrow.

A possible remedy in the interim for Bounty Hunter's Guild and other Guild plugins, though not a perfect replacement is ImprovedRaces 2.0.
It's compatible and will give new life to your game. There are a number of other artificial life (AL) plugins that are compatible as well.

I have successfully completed both the Argon and Terran campaigns without the stock market.

It has been several versions (and almost 1 year's time) since doing so and I can't remember if I used cheats to get around any glitches, but I will say that I successfully controlled the hub as both Imperial and Alliance.

After the Alliance campaign, I began the Mandalorian or campaign but never finished before updating to a new version. They can be completed and it can be done without the stock market.

I've actually never used the stock market in this mod or in vanilla...

The Supremacy is capable of docking multiple Resurgent-class Star Destroyers and acts more like a mobile shipyard/command base than it does a starship. It would certainly make sense if capital ships could dock to it.

If we covered Centerpoint station in Kha'ak beam weapons and tractor beams... Hmmmmmm

A Star Wars version of Elite would be amazing and a Star Wars Star Citizen could easily become the modern Star Wars Galaxies with everything it should have been. Especially since you won't have to deal with publishers. I play elite myself and find the game invigorating. I think X4 will provide a step in that direction for the X series and will be a great testbed for some mechanics and philosophies that you would want to either exclude or incorporate for your game.

And that's true if you're looking for a "Star Citizen" or "Elite Dangerous" style of game, then legends vs. cannon is a moot argument because you can always have more ships in these games!

On another note, as the 1.0 release a approaches in the next month or two for this mod and we await the release of X4 (hopefully mid to late 2018) have you considered launching a Patreon page? The fees are simple, you keep 90%, they get 5%, and the transaction fees for the merchant are 5%. It also works in SA (Here's a comic shop based in SA: Patreon.com)

I think if you're looking to move into a lifestyle where you become a "game studio"/developer, especially with your own standalone games, it would allow us as the community to crowdfund the game as fans over a period of time instead of campaigns that only last a couple of months. It is also more sustainable in that it can create recurring revenue so that eventually you could leave your "day job" and work on Mod and game development full-time. I've seen a lot of people leverage Patreon as a platform to sustain their life while they commit their time to their creative passion with a lot of success.

Glad to see the Indiegogo back up, I missed it last time. I've got hundreds of hours on this mod and can't wait to see what you have in store for X4 (the vanilla game is #1 on my steam wishlist).

An MMO on Unreal Engine 4 would be awesome! As soon as construction is complete on my house IRL I'm going to be attempting to resurrect Star Wars Galaxies and run a dedicated server in my rack in the basement. I bet there is a lot of inspiration to be gleaned from that. Star Wars Galaxies had a lot of great things about it that are missing in today's shallow, microtransaction filled MMO selection. I think it blends the MMO world and X3's sandbox experience pretty well, especially for its time. If the publishers hadn't driven it into the ground it would probably still be around today.

I think the Star Wars community at large would love a proper KOTOR sequel and while Star Wars: The Old Republic is a great game, it lacks the proper sequel content and instead opts to pay occasional homage to the standalone KOTOR games. Something to consider.

Another item is considering legends vs. cannon content. While some schools of thought bicker between the two, I thoroughly enjoy both story arcs and would embrace either (although I tend to favor games/mods containing the Legends material because it is more fleshed out and complete due to the new trilogy not being fully released at the time of this writing). Perhaps a blend of the two arcs? Not sure how that would work, but that's the fun, isn't it?
