ENB seems to make anomalies invisble. Normally you're supposed to see some weird visual effects where an anomaly is located. It's hard to capture in still images since it's an animated thing but I tried (it's right below the crosshair).

But none of that is there when ENB is on. I can only detect anomalies by the static on the screen when you get super close, and the warning beeps.

What can I do about this besides turning off ENB entirely? I assume this isn't intentional.

Could you up the brightness of the original levels in the comparison shots? It's often really hard to see anything because it's so dark. Especially the new Excavation screenshot.

Of course, that's TEH HARDCORE IMMERSIONZ. Can't have anything remotely convenient stay in the game, like knives and binoculars having their own slots. :/

What does the hardcore AI aiming option in the options menu do exactly? Improve enemy accuracy? How much? What if I turn it off? More extensive documentation would be nice.

You need to restart the whole game to change class I think. The current message says that you have to 'restart the game' but no doubt some people will interpret that as 'have to start a new game' and not 'have to exit the game and start it again'. The message could've been clearer.

It's always amusing to see what kind of weird obvious problems slip by a mod team on a big release.

The bit about where to put the textures isn't in the readme.

Now to see how far we can get Call of Pripyat up the top current player count list on Steam...

That's been down for some minutes, and anyone who was in the midst of downloading it got a broken download.

And the dropbox download is down because of too much traffic, no surprise there. :p

Best to wait for the torrent I guess.

Well most of the hype is entirely their own fault so we'll see. I won't be feeling sorry for anyone when it turns out the mod isn't the greatest thing ever created and disappointed people start complaining here. :P

Well it's not like it's a commercial release where people need to decide whether to purchase MISERY or DayZ, and the one might exclude the other.

That's how you can summarize most of the trailers for Misery V2. Overly long intros, don't show much, and most of the actual information is displayed in text that can fit in 5 bullet points on a presentation slide.

Don't get me wrong the mod is looking good, I just don't care for all the flashy teasers. I hope it lives up to the hype you're generating. :P

Can anyone tell me exactly where the power cores are for that quest in the M4-78EP mod? I need 1 more. The journal entries for these quests don't give any useful information whatsoever, and the droid tells me to talk to the maintenace droid in the industrial zone but he doesn't say anything.(maybe in the first conversation, but I took a break after getting there because I was tired of the fetch quests so I don't remember. And the log doesn't have the full conversation anymore..)

I read on here there's one core in the loading zone (outside with the broken droids and all the crates? I looted all of that), one of a sith body near the environmental entrance, one on a droid you fight in the environmental zone, one on someone if you choose to kill him (I didn't), and there's one you can get if you don't harm any droids or something like that but that's no option for me either.

I have found one core but I'm not sure which one that is. I found the sith corpse but clicking on it does nothing. Either it's a bug or I already have that core. I can't find any of the others though.

If it's possible I'll settle for a cheat code to add an extra core to my inventory. I just want to get this over with. The whole quest series on the planet so far has taken me 4 hours when it really shouldn't have taken more than 2.

Is this going to be one of those remakes of single player narrative driven Half Life 2 mods that massively updates the graphics because a professional artist from the videogame industry fell in love with it and it then ends up as an indie game on Steam? :P

A little issue I'm having: I.imgur.com

The light corona looks odd.

I'm using the launcher and Kentie's DirectX10 renderer. I do have 32-bit textures selected, so that's not it.

Also I don't know if it's New Vision or the latest update to the renderer, but I'm getting delays with opening and closing the Steam overlay. It takes about 15 seconds to open and close, and meanwhile the screen appears frozen. I don't remember having this problem with the New Vision beta or earlier versions of the renderer.

Any other important information I forgot to mention?

If this mod will need to be made compatible with anything else, I'd say Revision is the most important one to deal with when it's finished. It's looking really really awesome.

Of course there's HDTP but... Yeah. 2012 maybe. :P

Oh yeah and the actual sound of the Winchester shotgun is very very loud when it's used by NPCs (louder than most other guns too), but it's much less loud when it's used by the player. Can anything be done about that?

The loudness of actions (for NPC detecting you) could use some tweaking. Taking out your binoculars or your gun registers as almost 3 times as loud as firing the average shotgun.

Do I keep checking different mod pages on ModDB at the wrong times, or are so many of the mod users on this site such self entitled douchebags? It's a freaking mod, Pavel is not some game company who you pre-ordered a game from who suddenly decides to delay the release.

He's making in his free time without being paid, and you're getting it for free, so stop whining and be happy you're getting this in the first place, whenever that may be, today or next week.

ModDB is a great place for mod users to find mod info, and for modders to present their mods, but I don't see how modders can constantly put up with the crap that some people on here give them.

Indeed, they have said in the past that they were considering it.

Povuholo - - 36 comments @ Dear Esther remake to get commercial release

Dear Esther is an interactive story, which uses a video game medium as a platform to present itself in. That doesn't mean it HAS to be treated as a 'game' and conform to your definition of a video game, or that 'playing' Dear Esther is an inferior experience to reading a book.

What file would I need to edit to change the speed that time passes? Right now it's around 10 real life seconds for 1 game minute, but I'd like to speed it up to 3 seconds to 1 minute.

Might help me to get some more blowouts too instead of having them always occur and passing while resting. XD

I'm fine with LURK being made difficult, as long as it's done in a realistic way. Not with sniping Makarovs.

Sounds good. Still, what about quest NPCs? Do they tend to get killed?

If you save during a blowout, can you reload without having corrupted the save? That's my blowout experience from Oblivion Lost anyway...

More pistol sniping fun. I45.tinypic.com

That hostile guy on the left has no trouble at all shooting me with his stupid pistol from that distance. If it weren't for the wooden railing every shot would've hit, easy for him as long as I'm not moving.

I was also wondering about the hunger system. Is there one active in the game?

Even if it is activated, time passes so slowly (10 seconds=1 minute?) that you'll barely ever need it. If you're looking for more ideas for the optional stuff you're providing later on, one option that makes time pass by a bit faster would be nice. And one to activate the hunger system if it's really not active of course.

Also kudos for releasing the first patch so quickly. ;)

I think it may have something to do with the HDR. When I started using the toned down version this issue is a lot less obvious.

I think in the end the release got a bit rushed because of all the people whining. :P

As for that bug with the Scientific Medkit being broken... That bug was already on the list of 'known bugs' before I downloaded it. Did you know about it before the actual release, or was it one of the first things people reported? If the first, why not fix it before the release? If the second, I'm surprised as to how you managed to miss that after all these months.
