Loving it so far! ETA on next patch? My character can't marry thanks to all the ladies giving the "surrender or die" dialogue, and I heard this is pretty widespread.

Does anyone else get an error where everything is only colored blue and/or orange and can't really see anything?

So you're adding more Villages and the like? perhaps A way to make the Empire seem more populated is to sort of replicate the Roman frontier towns by having the castle and then one or two villages almost immediately next to it. This would make the Empire's presence more felt without having to add too many new cities (although perhaps if some castles/forts were converted to cities that would be a good thing too, the Provinces feel kind of empty)

Are you going to edit the text for the character creation from Brytenwalda? for example instead of races like Roman, Breton, Gaelic, etc. change to something like "Roman," "Numidian," "Britannic," "Parthian," etc. and religions to "Roman Paganism," "Germanic Paganism," "Zoroastrianism," etc. and professions/parent's professions to "Legionnaire," "Senator," etc.

It's nearly impossible to express just how perfect this is. Combat just got 30 times more in-depth.
What sort of changes will this have on things like kingdom management, troop types, etc?

It's not a "bug" so much as it is the fact that the AI just doesn't register the outer wall and doesn't climb the ladders, instead trying (in vain) to walk through the wall.
Problem with the AI or not I highly recommend just getting rid of second sets of walls, it makes everyone's life easier.

Big problem: At some castles/towns (Yairk is the one I had a problem with) the AI din't register the outer wall, so they didn't climb the ladders into the next part and I had to retreat from the battle simply because we couldn't fight.

Question: IN the description you mention one faction as having "legionaries."
Describe them?

I suggest adding a bunch of villages and maybe a few castles to the eastern province, and having more "lords" to govern them. This would represent the fact that large numbers of the Roman legions were sent to the east, and the only way to really show this in Warband is with more lords and more lords require more fiefs.

Could always up a few castles or villages to town and then ad some more little villages.

You could always split it up further. Asia Minor and Egypt are still fairly far apart.

How about for troop differences you factor in regional auxiliaries or mercenaries? Like greek spearmen or gallic cavalry?

But then there wouldn't be Marcus Aurelius, and it would be pre-marian legions which means no Praetorians or segmentata armor.

Just imagine being an actual in-the-line legionary; that would be awesome.

I think possibly to make things a bit more manageable you could have a separate roman faction for each province, sort of like how the Brytenwalda submod "Imperium Romanum" had three separate legions. This way, each province could manage its own campaigns and the player, if he wanted t be a roman vassal, wouldn't have to go all the way from his village in say, spain, to the eastern border because the entire empire was summoned for a campaign against Parthia.

Newton_the_First - - 38 comments @ Bellum Imperii

Each rough area of the empire is it's own faction, so it has its own roster of lords and a governor. That way, wars would be more balanced because rather than the entire Empire taking days to gather for a campaign then steamrolling the enemy because of the immense amount of lords needed for a faction with so many locations, each province would manage its own campaigns. This would be more balanced and more efficient because the Roman faction for the province of Gaul would be fighting on the Rhine border, the Roman province of Dacia would hold the lower Danube border, the middle-eastern provinces faction would fight the Parthians, so on and so forth. This way the Empire would assemble for a campaign more efficiently and quickly, and wouldn't completely steamroll the enemy once assembled.

If I may, I'd like to suggest a feature.
Rome was very large at this time. It seems like it would be very difficult to get all of the "lords" together for a single campaign, so I suggest this: Separate the empire into different factions based on regions. For example, Gaul would be "Roman Province of Gaul" or something of that sort. Then "...Hispania", "...Syria/Egypt" etc.
Italy and the Alps could be the SPQR under Aurelius himself. This isn't particularly historically accurate but it would keep the game balanced so that the Romans could be effective militarily. Just make sure that all of the Roman provinces are allies.

If you join the action and are really good or use cheats you can conquer a bunch of castles with them, thus making them big, but as far as I know there would need to be extra coding to make a faction have more lords according to size. Alternatively you could start a new faction by capturing a polish town then name your faction "duchy of Warsaw(rebels)" and conquer all polish territory, then expand and convince more lords to join you.

I think adding shinobi (ninjas)would we a great idea. I remember Brytenwalda had spies, and you could probably add to the abilities of those spies. Perhaps also I would be interesting to allow players to follow a ninja path. (ex. lords give spy or assassinate missions and ninja-esque equipment is made available, as well as more options for castle infiltration.
