This mod looks kind of interesting, but I don't think it's a good idea to all of a sudden want to make a mod, and learn hammer. You should start by just making maps and putting them on the portal 2 workshop first, if you are just starting out with hammer. If you would like to have custom particles for this mod, I would be happy to do that if you would like.

you just change mainmenu.res to mainmenu_new.res AND on the very first line of it, change resource/ui/mainmenu.res to resource/ui/basemodui/mainmenu_new.res
