I really agree with you, combat is quite hard, specially if you are in a freighter-like ship... Perhaps using the mouse or a joystick could improve gameplay...

Indeed it's a big debate... But I don't know ; if we consider a game like a painting for example, we should say that some games, even if they are old, are master pieces, and it's hard to tell people that they can't see those master pieces because someone aren't comercializing it... In my opinion it's a problem of consider a game as a simple product or as a cultural legacy. For me the content is one thing and the way of selling it, the product that we made with this content, is another one. Desura, Steam and GOG are a way of selling a content, a good way, with support, well maded install scripts, summary, videos, photos etc. I buy a way of consuming a cultural legacy, a cultural content ; it's the same thing that going to a museum and paid for an Iphone application to have audio-guided tools that offers you a better "visit experience". Nowadays it's impossible to destroy pircacy, so I think the better way is to offer a crucial experience advantage to gamers... Desura is fantastic and I'll buy Fallout again just to have it working here, with all my other Desura games on Linux!

Well I didn't know that Protektor... I don't like to buy on the internet, specially not on ebay, if the companies want me to buy for their products they need to give me a totally legal and well presented way. It's the same thing for music, since Spotify I paid a premium account and sometimes I buy albums that I really want to have. With movies it's the same problem as with games : if I want to find for example an old film by Kurosawa it could be extremly hard, specially if you live in a place with no huge cultural activities, like little cities (in Brazil it's extremly hard to find old movies, classical music, even modern movies that aren't big hollywood or national productions - I just have Spotify because I live in France for some time! Not every place in this planet have the same infrastructure than America... Three years ago I decided to play Starcraft one again but my old CD was corrupted so I try to bought another one on the internet and because of international export taxes I paid more then 10 times the product value). So I'll continue to download movies and games for free if I can't bought them legally and in a nice platform like GOG, Desura or Steam for games or VUDU for movies (of course this one doesn't exist yet in Brazil).

Yes it's extremly expansive even with -15%... Before paying all that money I need to play a demo first since the game seems very minimalist after looking screenshots...

Seriously the game isn't bad but I don't understand the 10 grades at review page... If you consider for exemple the exceptional Braid to be 10 how can we mark 10 to this game! A 5 or 6 should be better, in my humble opinion...

I agree with you but it really depends on your hardware... For example, Intel graphic chipsets has horrible performances on linux, Realtek wifi cards drops connection, a lot of printers aren't recognized out of the box and need sometimes serious tweaks... I can also mention webcams or sound issues as we can see with the last Fallout release by Desura and also with "And yet it moves"... I think that if you bought the good hardwares linux could be the best OS of all, but that's not always possible... I've changed my Wificard, but I can't change my intel graphic chipset... The good news is that Linux evolve extremly fast and well, with a lot of desktop inovations and better hardware support... Even with all that, for now, I think we can't say that linux is generaly more stable then windows ; the great thing about Windows is that it still has the best hardware support and that's understandable if we look at the world market share... This market share also explain why they will work a lot to provide a system more and more stable... Windows 7 is extremly more stable than Vista for exemple... I'm a huge Linux fan, but I like to be realistic : linux has a lot of path to do even if it's in the right way in my humble opinion...

Some issues as I can read here... I've some general questions : is fallout abandonware> Even if it isn't some games that "sell" GOG are, can they do that> I mean that's legal> It seems to be the intention of Desura to port some old DOS games and I think that's great! I recommend "Master of Orion 2 : Battle for Antares", a fantastic game that as Fallout still very playable nowadays (I mean the graphics and the gameplay still quite acceptable... I say that because I've tried to play the firs Alone In the Dark some days ago and it's just unplayable for me, I'm not that much retro =P ... I used to love this game back in 90 something...).

I've it already (original copy from the first release =D) and I can play it with Dosbox but I've some little issues sometimes, if this version runs perfectly I'll buy it for sure, just waiting to finis the new Deus Ex Human revolution and New Vegas haha but I'll wait to read nice feedbacks about installation and gaming experience! But thanks a lot for Desura to this fabulous game!!!!!

It's fine man, no prob at all. The most important thing here is that Desura specify that this game is only for 32 bits machines so any attempt to make it run on 64bits can be hard, needing sometimes complex tweaks (it's the case for Atom Zombie Smasher)... For me the game works on my 64bits PC, but performance isn't good, the game is quite slow ; also, I think it's because of bad opengl support by intel graphic chipset. I've read that UXA accel method could improve 3D and 2D performance, but after trying it it causes some instability to my system. Another possibility is to use the last drivers compiled on the "edger" ppa, but it isn't stable so you can have issues... I really don't like intel drivcers for linux =S their so slow in comparison to windows ones... Nevertheless almost every game on Desura for linux are working well for almost everyone and that's really awesome! Desura will be our "steam" on linux, and since the games selected are very very good it'll be a great soft. I just hope people will bought games to justify the devs work on linux client...

Haha Linux more stable than windows... I love linux and I will use it forever, but I don't think we can really affirm that... It's impossible to be so stable with so many differents configs, is because of that apple is so stable, they have small hardware choices and their OSs are made for it... Let's face the true, linux still have a long wae to be a friendly system, we still have a lot of bugs and we still need to tweak a lot. Even so, I really think Linux is evolving fast and thats awesome. Desura is a very good representation of that and I really appreciate that! Really!

PS : And yes I'm a linux user who loves very very very much his desktop that is, in his opinion, far better and more beautifull than any other (but after a lot of tweaks, but I love it!)

You're annoying me man, I use linux for years now and I know very well how to find support for linux issues and ifx them. The game isn't free, it costs more then 10 bucks without sales. The support given by game devs for linux isn't the same they give to windows neither apple and it's understandable since we represent only 1% of the market. Some devs are kind enought to help us finding solutions to our issues. Linux isn't made for a large public and that's a fact, install libs, create a script to launch something, all this is nice and fun for geeks like us but it isn't for the large public! Let's stop to be hypocrit, we're all linux users here, we all love our tux and his advantages, but we need to know our problems too to be able to evolve... So my advise is just to TRY DEMOS FIRST BEFORE BUYING, you can never be sure the software will work correctly.

Doesn't work on 64 architecture without tweaking a lot (with intel graphics of course, with nvidia it's ok)... I don't want to tweak anymore so much on linux (I haven't neither time or patience anymore) so even if the game is very nice it goes directl to the trash!

You should try demos before buying a game for linux, it's still a very instable platform for gaming and with a lack of support...

It runs quite slow on my PC, it's better than the version downloaded from the official site (and really don't know why) but it's still almost unplayable... I don't really know why, but I think the greatest shame of linux is the problem source : intel graphic driver!
