Also out of curiosity, what would you want in an EAW 2? Personally, I'm a simple man; more pretty ships and more pretty laser/projectiles and i'm a happy man. Something definitely should be done about ground combat though; you might remove it but at the same time it was fun crushing rebel scum in an ATAT so some form of ground combat should be implemented (perhaps optional) but it definitely needs a rework from EAW 1

I have a small suggestion for your mod. Capital ships normally require a fighter escort, otherwise they are sitting ducks for bombers and enemy fighters with no real way to fight back. An improvement might be to give capital ships a couple of flak gun-like turrets with a small AOE on it so that they can hit fighters. Maybe not enough to fend off hordes of bombers and fighters on their own, but enough that they are not taken down if they are without fighters. Of course this might be reserved for star destroyers and Mon Calamari or higher tier ships but that is for you to decide.

That being said, I love what you've done with the mod so far. The visuals alone are fantastic with beautiful planets, impressive ships, and missile/projectiles that are amazing to watch and I can't wait to see what else you have in store for this mod.
