Hi ! I just acquired H.P. under Kubuntu Linux. I noticed it didn't start as Desura couldn't find the game executable.

It turned out this was a spelling mistake : Linux is case sensitive. The filename is written with a capital "H" but desura, when starting it is looking for "hyperspace" with no capital H ;-)

BTW : is it possible to configure keys ? (I use it in an arcade cabinet but buttons are "hardcoded" ;)

Working here no problem (Kubuntu 12.10 64 bits, core2duo 3 GHz, NV 9800MGTX, Nvidia proprietary drivers).

Could you please add an option to customize keys ? I have an arcade cabinet and would love to use my side buttons with it ;)

It's been such a long time I've been waiting for a new Pinball game... (big Slam Tilt fan, on the Amiga, if you need inspiration ;)

Now that Adobe Air is being discontinued, is there a long term solution to run this game under Linux ?

Can you please update the game ? There are many important fixes in the latest version which is a couple of months old already...

Yep indeed, would be a good thing. For instance, if I recall correctly, the new version works around the crashes that occur (because some drivers don't like when anti-aliasing is enabled).

Nope, the DLC is not included. (it consists of 3 additional ships + 1 "random" one, which changes everytime you die).

Same issue here. Tried to remove / reinstall with no success.

Yes, they do ! You have to install ia32-libs in Synaptic, if that's not already done.

Not sure it's written anywhere (?) but figured out you had to type "F1" to end a level, once the requirements are met.

Oh, the tracks are actually already there ;)
In case you are interested, some of them are taken (and modified) from Lynne's album "Wizard of the Winds" based on the Allan Cole novel : Lynnemusic.com

Thanks for the updated build ! Works like a charm !

May I ask two questions though ?

- 1) when using an AZERTY keyboard (French one here), the digits do not work -- I have to remap and use the numpad instead. It's no big deal but it happens frequently, for instance in "Achron", which prevents, in the latter, to use important features (like, grouping units). There must probably be a common cause (in SDL maybe ?) that could be worth investigating ?

- 2) under Gnome Shell (Linux Mint 12), fullscreen apps that use a resolution lower than the monitor one are sometimes not completely fullscreen (you can stil see the "activities button", the clock, etc. at the top of the screen. It only happens with some games, not all (example : not in Braid, JamesTown, Blocks that matter, but it does in Chocolate Castle and World of Goo). Maybe there's a reason / workaround in the way some apps open a screen ?

Cheers and thanks for your support !

Oh ! I have the soundtrack (by Bjorn Lynne) in CD format... Didn't know the game, but am a big fan of Bjorn Lynne aka Dr Awesome from the Amiga scene (and Team 17).

Is it possible to import the original tracks in the game ?

It's difficult to judge...

On the one hand : old games may still be as interesting / as fun or even better than current games. So if the price is based on their interest / replayability, $5 seems cheap.

On the other hand, I tend to think this way : I like to give some money to people in order to support them, to pay their wages, to help them create more software etc. Which is particularly true with indie gaming. In this case, I have the feeling I pay a company that just owns old intellectual property. That's just my perception : this money could be used for anything.

Another problem with old games is that we don't play them in the same conditions as before : we have gigantic screens that makes cool retro pixel art look like sh*t. Which is why I still have my Amiga 1200 with an old 14" CRT and it looks marvellous :)

Does anyone know if the "Treason DLC" will be available to Linux ?

Thanks for the port, BTW !

Seems extra difficult at first, but you there are quite a lot of checkpoint and powerups. So, much "trial & error" to make progress, but that's quite enjoyable actually, as I love oldschool games where you progressively learn to "master" your character.

I have the same issue with any game ; probably a bug in the current Desura linux client. But you can buy it from your browser to work around this !

Thanks for the cool Linux support !

Although all games seem to work here, I have 2 issues with the client :

- it frequently happens that a game download doesn't work (it stops at "retrieving information" or similar). If I click on "cancel" the client crashes. Then, the subsequent downloads of the same title won't work UNLESS I remove the game directory in desura/common.

- I cannot buy anything from withing the client, it displays something like "Load Failed" "Load of URL Secure.desura.com failed with error code -9."

Apart from that, great work :-)

Charlie, what about adding Space Phallus to Desura ?

Actually, I don't remember which ones exactly because, the game didn't work before I installed another app (WINE maybe ?) which itself downloaded some 32 bits libraries.

This game is super mega awesome ; oldschool pushed to its limits, extremely varied, psychedelic, well balanced etc etc.

Had to "manually" install 32 bits libs under Ubuntu 11.10 64 bits BTW.
