Trine is a beautiful fantasy action platformer with a fairytale-like atmosphere, following the journey of three heroes - a Wizard, a Knight and a Thief - in a quest to save the kingdom from evil. The gameplay is based on fully interactive physics - each character's different abilities and tactics can be used to invent new ways to battle an army of undead and overcome obstacles, and restore the balance of the world.
If you have ever wanted to mod Trine or develop your own epic platform adventure you can now do just that.
Whilst there is little supporting documentation at the moment, the Frozenbyte guys have given the full in house tools they used to make the games, here's what they say.
Frozenbyte wrote: The reason we’ve held off releasing the editor to the public before has been quite simple. It’s pretty difficult to use if you don’t know what you’re doing, and there’s *very* little documentation or tooltips.
The Frozenbyte Editor is a very diverse tool. This is what we use to make games like Trine and Trine 2, and it’s based entirely on our own technology. You can now edit existing maps, make new maps and do all kinds of things with it. If this sounds like fun, go a head and play with the features and experiment!
So did we make an easy-to-use version for everyone to enjoy? The answer to that is…not really :) Instead we’ve opened a wiki page and provided some very basic instructions on how to use our editor. It’s an open wiki after you’ve registered, so anyone can edit and post information, and we hope that people will start to share their knowledge with everyone. We’ll also be updating the wiki ourselves and tracking that all the instructions are correct and up-to-date.
So what are you waiting for follow these instructions and jump in.

Why there only linus and mac version of Trine T^T
Got this error when trying to run on Ubuntu 12.10:
/home/adam/.desura/games/trine/trine-launcher32: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libXrandr.so.2: undefined symbol: _XGetRequest
I had many problems getting Trine to run in 12.10 (32 bit). If you try to run Trine from the terminal is the first thing. Eg locating the Trine executables from where Desura puts them mine where in /home/<user>/<desura location>/common/trine
First I got ./trine-launcher32: ./lib32/libz.so.1: version `ZLIB_1.2.3.3' not found (required by /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2) happening so I had to delete libz.so.1 file from /home/<user>/<desura location>/common/trine/lib32
and create the folder /home/<user>/.frozebyte/trine (Desura didn't seem to be making it when installing)
Next I had to rename/remove libm.so.6 and libvorbis.so.0 in /home/<user>/<desura location>/common/trine/lib32
Then copy libasound.so.2.0.0 into /home/<user>/<desura location>/common/trine/lib32 from /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu. Then create a link in the trine/lib32 directory to the newly copied in file named libasound.so.2
I was then able to start the Trine-bin32 executable from the terminal. I couldn't get
trine-launcher32 to run properly though and gave that one up once I got the main game starting up.
ost won't download?
Crashed on arch linux 64 bit with following message:
ALSA lib dlmisc.c:236:(snd1_dlobj_cache_get) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so
Got signal 11 at 0x7f60 from 0x7f60
Segmentation fault
Running with "padsp" fixed it (padsp ./trine-bin64)
Same for me.
Desura won't let me download Trine from Linux 64-bit, it says it connect to the server, but it allows me to download from the desura website from firefox.
Hi everybody! I've recently bought Trine on Desura. The game is really awesome. I've played Linux version and it works perfect on ATI Catalyst drivers. And I wanted to know is there any chance to get it on Steam? I know, there is no Steam for Linux (yet? ^_^), but it would be cool to get Trine there.
an awesome game !
desura client tells me about the 1.08 update (linux 64bit here) but once i try applying it, it tells me there is no available update (code 52.0 ? i believe)
