OOC: Each side begins with 10 ships. I'll answer questions and occasionally provide intelligence reports but in general this event is between GA and Empire players.

Notice: Local proximity-based communications involving GA patrol and Empire detachment is increasing tensions dramatically via direct pilot-to-pilot dialogue.

Notice: Class-E border buoys are the most widely deployed border markers deployed by the Alliance and the Empire due to their low cost and expendability, consistently distributed along border system in otherwise remote and unimportant sections of the border where analysts, evidently inaccurately, assumed no major traffic would ever occur. Additionally, the class-E is wholly inaccurate within the margin of a light-second.

Intelligence services are still gathering information into anything considered pertinent to the situation. Reports will be made available as time progresses.

Location: Imperial Palace

Time: 0535 CST

Empress Fel: "Dispatch a message to the Galactic Alliance that the ship shall be handed over to them as a gesture of good faith and make sure they know next time it happens I will not be so forgiving. Also, inform the local forces of the situation and tell them to keep me apprised of the situation."

The frigate, Austerity, arrives in the system along with reinforcements from the Anaxes garrison. Captain Corvin Isarch watches from the bridge as the Alliance patrol comes into view as small barely visible dots against the darkness of space.

"Captain", the CO alerts; "We have received new information. The Imperials have agreed to hand over the ship. We are to proceed to the border buoy immediately for a handover". Corvin gives a nod to the pilot and he plots in the new course.

"Well aint that sweet of them Verris. Perhaps we'll soon be singing songs together over a plasma heater.." Corvin remark. The CO chuckles, "I hope not, I've heard you sing Captain". The bridge crew smothers a laugh, even Corvin smirks a little. "You've never heard me sing Verris, if you had, you would have readily thrown yourself out the airlock." Corvin retorts, be it at his own expense.

Their banter is interupted by an automated alert, stating that they are near the border. Corvin orders a full stop. All they could do now was wait.

OOC: These reports and events happen concurrently with your moves.

Sourced from Castell, the foodstuff is considered an ordinary delicacy in some parts of the Empire.

06:19 Coruscant Standard Time - Report: As the Empire proceeds to release the Solastas Shine across the border, the local transmissions among the Alliance and Imperial pilots reaches a fever pitch. Through their local, short-range communications, these pilots have been prodding and goading their counterparts across the border.

"Our Starfighter contingent's are charging weapons Captain!" Another bridge officer exclaims.

Captain Isarch opens a direct channel to the Alliance Starfighters. "The Empire is giving us what we want, stand down. That's an order!".

06:20 Coruscant Standard Time - Report: Pilots stand down, officers step in to keep their subordinates in line from now on as the higher ups are breathing down their collective necks. An impromptu agreement is reached to maintain a select band frequency on the short-range communications, unless a pilot deliberately disobeys, there will no longer be any chatter between the two sides.

06:25 Coruscant Standard Time - Report: Imperial investigation into cargo space and system databanks revealed nothing out of the ordinary, cargo consists large shipments 20 metric tons of flash dried Gossam land fowl. Sourced from Castell, the foodstuff is considered an ordinary delicacy in some parts of the Empire.

06:34 Coruscant Standard Time - Report: The Solastas Shine, along with a very grumpy and anxious captain is sent drifting across the border towards Alliance space for them to tractor beam.

"Engaging tractor beam." one of the bridge crew says as the freighter comes into view.

"Alright lads, lets tow this piece of scrap back. Send a team of troopers over to secure the ship." Captain Isarch commands.

With the crisis slowly being defused as the Empire hands the errant vessel, things begin to calm down along the border and garrison vessels return to their original postings. Intelligence agencies compile the remaining reports and sketch a full picture of the incident.

Alliance investigation into Novania spaceport reveal "Solastas Shine" unlisted statuses are due to negligence of spaceport personnel. Individuals directly involved were reprimanded, extensively.

As it turns out; Gossam land fowl is considered contraband under Galactic Alliance law as its conservation status is classed vulnerable by the Alliance Red List. This information is corroborated by V. Lutrik.

_________

The incident where the starfighters began charging weapons was investigated. As it were, an Alliance soldier was mocking his Imperial counterparts as the Solastas Shine was being moved into position to be received by the Austerity. Calling them spineless and weak at first before making some colourful insinuations regarding the Empress at which point Imperial pilots demanded an apology. Weapons began to be charged shortly after.

_________

Alliance legality: V. Lutrik may be tried on poaching, smuggling, attempt at illegal border crossing, illegal border crossing, failure to obey lawful order and obstruction of justice.

Empire legality: V. Lutrik may be tried on attempt at border crossing and border crossing. Special dispensation due to Empire citizenship cited by V. Lutrik. Dispensation has no prior precedent in this case and the man was already extradited by the Empire to the Alliance, forfeiting this hypothetical right.

Under the laws of both the Galactic Alliance and the Galactic Empire, citizenship is mostly considered irrelevant in ordinary criminal incidents with some exceptions.

Description

160 ABY – Between Arkania system & Kluistar system

In the years following the dissolution of the Triumvirate, border security between the Alliance and Empire has increased notably. Travel is restricted to the main galactic hyperlanes, all others hyperroutes are heavily restricted and civilians are barred from their use.

Both nations retain minor garrisons along periphery worlds with the majority of what can be considered border security concentrated around the major hyperlanes. So far, illegal border crossing incidents have been few and usually easily and safely resolved by local forces. This incident is the first of its kind.

The following is a compilation of hastily compiled intelligence reports starting at 01:12 Coruscant Standard Time.

0112 CST: “Solastas Shine” departs from Novania central spaceport.

0133 CST: “Solastas Shine” veers off from in-sector hyperlane towards restricted hyperlane. Communication attempted.

0138 CST: Communication ignored, GA patrol dispatched.

0151 CST: Communication ignored, “Solastas Shine” charges hyperdrive, destination determined as Kluistar system in Empire space.

0152 CST: GA patrol fire on “Solastas Shine”, hyperdrive & sublight disabled, vessel drifts across class-E border buoys.

0155 CST: GA patrol unable to pursue into Empire space, request tractor-capable vessel.

0223 CST: Empire patrol arrives & assumes holding pattern around “Solastas Shine”.

0231 CST: GA patrol denied retrieval of “Solastas Shine” by Empire patrol.

0300 CST: GA reinforced by Anaxes garrison.

0341 CST: Empire reinforced by Ord Mantell garrison via Kluistar system.

0344 CST: “Solastas Shine” brought onboard Empire cruiser, local GA officials issue warning to Empire detachment.

0336 CST: Empire detachment issue counter-warning citing territorial rights.

0525 CST (Now): GA and Empire detachments join standoff, standoff news reaches Coruscant & Bastion.
