The Yuuzhang Vong had instigated perhaps the single most brutal conflict in galactic history which resulted in a death toll well in the 300 trillion by most estimates. The war came to an abrupt end with the arrival of Zonama Sekot over a Vong-devastated Coruscant. To most of the galaxy, it seemed as if the Vong were let off the hook with most of them recalled to a mythical, sentient planetoid before vanishing off into the Unknown Regions. Those who remained behind faced hostile citizens and widespread discrimination by a traumatised galaxy.

Seeing an opportunity to undo the damage done by the war and sway galactic opinion, the Jedi Order spearheaded the Ossus Project which utilised the advanced Vong terraforming technology to restore worlds. When widespread poisoning resulting in the death of millions, the galaxy demanded retribution and the Empire invoked the Treaty of Anaxes to invade the Galactic Alliance. Many Alliance worlds seceded, their confidence in the government shattered in favour of the Empire.

The events that followed are galactic history.

However, the rampant continued hatred towards the remnant Vong is beginning to lead to a cultural shift within the extra-galactic people. Though some attempts were made to pin the failure of the Ossus Project on Sith conspiracy, no further attempts to reduce Vong discrimination were made by either the Triumvirate or any other galactic nation. As a result, many Yuuzhang Vong have started to take measures into their own hands to ensure the safety of their people.

These measures are spearheaded by the Fearsome One, or Warmaster, Charat Shai.

Charat Shai is an enigmatic element within Vong society, supposedly a former member of the warrior caste who neither retreated to Sekot nor partook in the mass ritual suicide, the warrior has spent the better part of his life seeking to reunite his scattered people under the pretence that there was greater safety to be enjoyed in numbers and through a united front.
