There are four America's, the place, the people, the government, and the idea.

The place was nice but the people ruined it. The people are ambitious but the government has ceased to supplement that ambition since the corporate coup some time ago around the Reagan administration. The original idea pretty much has most others beat, however the people suck. And because the people suck, the government sucks. And because everyone sucks the idea is now either twisted or tossed out the window all together.

We all suck.

The world sucks so its all good, lol.
and The people have always sucked here- the majority of the population has never been much above mental retardation- I find it hilarious and troubling how much of our populance can read or count past ten or even find our own country on a map.

America is the last of the old system, many forget that America was one of the great Imerialist powers of the old order.

If we look at it from this point of view the entire picture makes sense.
Does America support freedom? If the people or country involved freedom will benifit the U.S. than yes- just as any of the other great powers would have.
Is America evil? America has done and is probebly still doing some pretty bad things, but people forget how much good america does in this world. we give billions of our own money (taxed from the poor not the rich mind you) to feed the hungery & treat the sick and improve education around the world.
Think whenever there is a disaster around the world who sends the most aid? almost always the U.S., Hell who does everybody go to when there is a problem? again its the U.S.
America is a nation out of time we are still living in the Twilight of Imperialism unable to allow it to die away.
I wouldnt call us evil- but evil is subjective but i really dont see Mcdonalds & KFC as being on the same level as gas chambers and firing squads but thats just my personal opinion.

Neither. It's not North Korea but it's not a paradise on earth either. And this applies to pretty much everywhere too.

If you were Korean, indoctrinated by their regime, it would be paradise for you. But you see it from another perspective now.

Had to pay something like $80 in "dues." More like a sad attempt at getting some extra money because the government can't be bothered to properly fund education.

Why I dislike the USA as a nation? Well, the USA made the most wars in the 20th and 21st century (the leading factory of war), it is hyper-capitalistic (means money above all), its a stronghold of faith or bronce age myths, its a police state, and kicks its people with dirty boots, it is crumbling under the pressure of its stupid majority...

These are my prejustices. Feel free to correct me about what Im wrong, but thats why I dont like the US.

Very true.

it is hyper-capitalistic (means money above all)

Definitely true.

its a stronghold of faith

That kinda depends on what your definition of faith is.

its a police state

Definitely. You should read about the Valerie Plame scandal, which really brings to light the corruption in the US government.

kicks its people with dirty boots

What? American shoes are great! Just kidding, I know what you meant. Like you said, the US has really become a police state.

it is crumbling under the pressure of its stupid majority

I couldn't agree more.

That, what faith most applies to: religion, superstition, belief in something without evidence even if the evidence contradicts that what you are beliefing in.

I agree with you.

The one thing that separates the US from most of the world though, is that we are capable of change without violent revolution.

Our government is like a giant mass of bureaucratic play-doh.
10 years from now, we will be a totally different America.

10 years from then, you won't even recognize us.

The U.S. is a major stronghold of faith (faith being the nonrational suport of spiritual or metaphysical believe without scientific or credible verification to back it up)

I mean look at the number of people here who believe in alein visitations, spirutualism, religion and other silly things like energy vortexes, atlantis, vampires, elvis and the aliens, the lockness monster or lizard people.
These are all faith
and the U.S. is full of it.

*facepalm* Why do our debates always end up being about religion? I'm sure that if we all put our heads together and think, we can find something to kill each other for BESIDES our religious beliefs.

Description

Is the U.S. a good/bad nation, and why? Is it the force of freedom it portrays itself as, or the evil empire others condemn it to be?
