This game follows the story of what happens after the John Carpenter 1982 movie adaptation of the John W. Campbell JR Novel "Who Goes There?". The original game borrows heavily on the story from the 2002 video game and the current sequel expands further on the plot after Captain Blake defeats the Thing entity. After the death of Whitley and the destruction of Gen Inc property; Captain J.F.Blake boards a rescue plane and leaves Antarctica. Complications arise and the aircraft malfunctions and crashes. With no report from Blake the Alaska base sends in a new rescue team of which you the player take control. Your task is to find Captain Blake and escort him back to Alaska. However the thing entity did not die with Whitley on that day...

Wait... Does this mean we'll be fighting army troops? Also nice sprites.

Maybe we need someone a little more even tempered? :P Well in the game I'm an NPC already. The game tends to decide how it wants me to die. "Smith"'s survival rate is pretty low.

Are the army and gen inc working together? Also how many troops did the army send into antarctica? And how many troops does Gen inc got, lorewise of course.

The US Military denies any involvement with Gen Inc and it's operations in Antarctica. -No further comments at this time.

Description

With Gen Inc and the Mercenary forces overhauling their equipment and abilities particularly those of their basic "Grunt" units the US Army has begun to circulate more equipment to its soldiers in the field.

(From Left to Right)
The first new loadout is the Bullpup Rifle. Excellent precision is the key with this weapon and will serve as a steady damage dealer. The next is the upgrade to their assault troops with new skills and grenade abilities. The third new loadout is the M14 Rifle to help units pack more of a punch in firefights. Fourth is the Remington Shotgun Loadout complete with an insane variety of grenades. These damage dealers will bring the hurt and not all of you will make it home alive...

Not pictures but also included is an SMG loadout, packing a Colt 9mm and various grenades. This unit doesn't do as much bullet damage but uses grenades and items effectively. Finally there is a LMG unit with the M249 SAW. This unit will suppress and deal heavy damage.

Looks like things are getting serious out in the Arctic Captain. I've already lost several men myself (To the point of actually failing the game a few times!). Come November I hope you can get back out there and finish the fight.
