My first game !

I started this straigth after going through some of the tutorials on the Unity website. The basic idea was to have one level of a top down zombie shooter with an emphasis on atmosphere. For example, one of the features in the game is using the mouse pointer as a light because by default, everything is quite dark.

Comment on 0.1 : this version is still quite buggy, I noticed some silly UI behaviour on some screens, and the game over stats are not always accurate (probably due to the use of grenades). Bug fixing will be my priority for a next, more presentable version of the demo soon.

Features (so far):

  • One level (Creative Commons assets go a long way but not all the way)
  • 3 weapons (pistol, machinegun, high power riffle) and a grenade (we all love to blow stuff up)
  • 2 types of ennemies with A* pathfinding
  • local highscores
  • basic options and menu
  • original music for menu and game

Roadmap:

  • Add a shotgun (using one of the other weapons sprite) with a spread of bullets
  • End of wave selectable bonus
  • Bullet modifier
  • Have ennemies drop time limited bonuses
  • Add random 3d sounds on ennemies to help the player locate them and add to atmosphere. Maybe a few distant gunshot sounds as well.
  • ...

This probably won't end up being a real game as I destined it to be some sort of portfolio, but if anyone is interested in playing it, or developers/artists wish to jump in, I might consider developping this further.
