Melvor Idle, a Runescape inspired idle adventure game available on multiple platforms, has just surpassed one million downloads via mod.io. Read on to learn more about Melvor Idle and how mod.io has supported a new set of community creators!

Melvor Idle is the Jagex-published, Runescape inspired debut title of Games By Malcs, aiming to distil the adventure game formula down to its most fundamental aspects whilst keeping all the best parts. It's part of the idle game genre where a lot of player engagement is down to grander strategy, much of the more menial tasks fully automated with the goal of making numbers go up exponentially faster over time.

Melvor's skill system lifts directly from Runescape, inspired by the fun of hunting for incremental increases in skill and numbers. There's twenty-plus skills, but unlike many MMOs where improving these skills can be a chore, Melvor Idle makes this process stress-free and zen - increasing your capabilities is fun, satisfying, and each skill interacts with others in new ways that allow for depth if that's what you're looking for. Plenty of surface level content is there for those looking to just burn a few hours relaxing.

With so many skills interacting with a largely simple set of systems, it only takes a little bit of extra content to expand the offering, and whilst one DLC so far has already achieved that, modding support added less than a month ago has also massively enhanced the offering of the game - powered by mod.io, with over one million downloads on 140 mods so far.

Melvor Idle runs not only on desktop but also browser and mobile devices, which makes it a great pick for mod.io (and may well be responsible for the huge download count already, thanks to mobile players). Mods range from tweaks to existing skills for personal balancing, quality of life changes for experienced players to streamline their experience, and mods displaying drop chances for loot and items to allow min-maxing to the fullest.

Melvor Idle sits at Very Positive on Steam, appealing directly to the casual and hardcore arms of Runescape's fanbase and expanding into a whole new demographic as well. The game's currently £7.19 GBP/$9.99 USD on Steam, and comes bundled with various other games (including Runescape itself). mod.io has already seen a solid set of contributions by the community, and with runaway success so far, it seems destined to grow even further.
