Lost Hero is a dark fantasy action RPG game inspired by Dark Souls series. As an outcast hero, the player has to fight numerous creatures of the medieval/sci-fi world struggled in the endless war between races. Lost hero mainly focuses on tactical weapon fight with the various weapon and armor combinations available. The gear can be looted, crafted and upgraded. The game will also feature a multiplayer co-op mode for 2 - 4 players. In addition, the in-game editor will allow players to construct their own levels and populate them with deadly creatures of their choice.
First of all, we have to warn you a little. You probably know alphas are the early development stages. Our game is still under a rapid development. Because of it, anything you may read in this article shouldn't be taken as a promise. We do what we can. Still, the scope and our plans are changing every day. Hopefully for the best. The article describes our current vision, but anything may change in the future.
Well now, during last three years we've been having so much fun with our own testing that we can't wait to let others give it a go. Features and functionality are still being decided on for the final game, but this baby is now ready to play. The public alpha version should be out by October. Alpha will be a package of various game levels. Our intention is to let people play the early version so we can gather as much feedback on sword fighting and level structure as possible. LostHero features a complex fight system; the efforts will be toward fine-tuning it into the best gaming combat experiences we can do.
For the first version, we’re planning to have 5 - 10 levels available. LostHero level similarly to the whole future game will be set within a dark fantasy theme with a rich medieval/sci-fi background. Levels will feature elements from these intermixed settings. Expect levels filled with monsters as the main concern. Creatures to fight in the old moldy dungeons. To shrink you from the neverending cycle of sword fighting and dying, we are adding secrets and valuables to uncover in each level. Players will be able to go through the levels repeatedly and compete with others, scoring points for each play-through.
For now, we’re featuring 4 races of enemies and, split among those races, about 20 different enemy types. Some of these guys are quite deadly, and they’ll be coming at you with everything they’ve got. Be ready. Also, enemies can support each other if necessary using various weapons and move-sets.
There will be several starting player character sets available to choose from. Each character set offers different weapon selections, armor, and skills. We already uncovered some of them on our Twitter channel. As you may imagine, different character sets will greatly impact gameplay and fighting style in multiple ways. Animations, fighting distance, character agility, quality of armor are just a few variables we are using. Get ready to be challenged.
The RPG system underneath allows you to level up the character through collecting the souls of your vanquished foes - which we think makes for a more meaningful as somewhat dark method of character advancement. Collected souls are then distributed among skills. On one hand your skills make you stronger as a character, on the other hand, raising your skills allows you to use stronger, bigger weapons.
Weapons in Lost Hero has to be found or crafted. Crafting lets you create new and possibly weapons from acquired materials. Collect the materials you need, craft your weapon of choice and get to battle. You’ll need everything you can get.
