Insania is a scifi first person shooter set in deep space in the year 2191 on a military research/voyager spacecraft. Jack is the main character, a decorated, high ranking enlisted soldier in the U.E.A.(United Earth Alliance) military TITAN infantry, 3rd platoon sergeant(Sergeant Major). He is well known as a hero and loved within and outside of his platoon for his witty charm, gun-ho attitude and acts of bravery and fearlessness in the 6 year Contact war and 10 year Red War. He also has a wife and 2 children, a son and daughter who he is dying to see after his 6 month deployment to an uninhabited planet in the nexus cluster. Unfortunately for him, he finds himself waking up on this ship not knowing how or when he got there, alone and with no communication. The ship is on auxiliary power, it's dark and there is an eerie feel to it. Jack has to find his way throughout the ship and try to get communication to other ships or headquarters.

Insania means madness in latin and this game will embody madness as much as possible. My goal is to make sure everytime you press new game nothing will be in the same place as it was in the last playthrough (except for the level design, or maybe not...got to think about that). Enemies will spawn everytime you enter a room along with items and weapons randomly. You'll have to actually look at the items and pick them up, hahaha. The health and armor system are based on points so I can add in a limping feature when your health gets below 50 you start limping and you are slower for added difficulty. You will only be able to hold 4 weapons at a time and a certain amount of clips for each gun, but since I'm implementing pulse weapons the clips will hold more than what projectile weapons will. You will also be able to overcharge a clip with another clip to make the shots stronger, but you will lose a clip by doing that.

I want to make this game difficult, but not too difficult, it's the won't hold your hand difficult that isn't seen too often in games anymore from what I've seen lately.

My Plans For This Game:
1. 3 - 4 chapter campaign for single player and 2 - 4 player local and online co-op.
2. Making sure the clip system works to near perfection.
3. Make sure the gameplay is fun and graphics are descent or better, but gameplay is first and foremost.
4. Put emotion into the game.
5. Create a great storyline.
6. Deciding on whether I should put multiplayer in or not.

Thanks for doing a Mac OSX version, however I am having some issues with the Mac version. First of all , the file Insania.app.rar would not decompress properly until I renamed it to insania.rar. I don't understand why. I tried to run it on the latest vsn of OSX Mavericks (10.9.4) and only got music with a white screen and mouse cursor. Running it under Snow Leopard (10.6.8) I get a start screen with an image of a demon/alien skull and music but nothing else; no buttons etc for a new game, exit or anything. Have you actually tested it under OSX and if so what version did you use?

Your welcome for the mac version. I think I know what the problem is and it's very likely my fault. When I compressed the build I compressed the build file itself, so that could be why you're having issues, but not entirely sure. Truthfully I cannot test it under OSX due to me only having windows, but unity lets me create builds for windows, mac and linux so I thought what the hell, why not. Anyway, I appreciate you bringing this up to me otherwise I would not have known. Give me about an hour and I will redo the builds and compress the build folders within another folder this time and see if that helps, if not, let me know. Thankyou.

Thanks for looking into the Mac issues. I tried the new download from Aug 28. It decompressed properly and runs fine in Snow Leopard (10.6.8) but launching in Mavericks (10.9.4) I get music, mouse cursor and a black screen. No menu etc.

Ok so I did some research into Unity and Mavericks issues and I found out that people were having similar issues as your's with unity games and the unity engine itself not working properly or not at all with Mavericks 10.9 update. I do have the latest version of Unity, but I found no fix for the maverick update within the release notes so Unity still has no fix for it yet from what I've found out. So for the time being you'll probably have to backtrack to snow leopard to play my game. Do you have other unity games on your mac at all? If so, test them too to see if they work, if not, download another game being built in unity and see if it works then let me know. Thank you and apologies for the inconvenience.

I have downloaded a number of Unity games here at Moddb over the last couple of years. Most work with both Snow Leopard and Mavericks but a few only work with Mavericks but not Snow Leopard. This is the first one that I know of that did not work with Mavericks.

That's strange, but I'm going to be updating on Monday and I'll change the build settings for the Mac build and see if it works. To play it safe I'll put up 3 different Mac builds with different settings and if they don't work, I'll try to find a different solution until it works.
