General information about the Project Brutality mod for Doom II.

Welcome to the official ModDB page for the Project Brutality mod, where you can find a (mostly) stable release of the development branch “PB_Staging.” This new release has quite a lot of changes, most notably being some weapon overhauls, new weapons, and a new HUD, all made with care by the team. We hope to see you have fun re-living Doom using Project Brutality.

This is the preferred way of downloading the mod as it is ensured to have as little bugs and glitches as possible, but keep in mind that as this is an ongoing project in active development, there will always be issues to be taken care of, in the case that you encounter some, report them on our Discord server or on GitHub Issues, and we will try to fix them ASAP.

GZDoom 4.11 or above is required to run the mod, and there will not be a version for Zandronum or LZDoom. Please use a launcher like ZDL or AceCorp Launcher (recommended) to run the engine while avoiding any load order issues such as sprites being replaced by the mapset. The loading order should look like this:

  1. Map WAD;
  2. Project Brutality;
  3. Any other mini-mods.

Note that using add-ons specifically made for Project Brutality is unsupported as they typically replace core mod files, which cause issues when you update to a newer version. If you find any issues with an add-on, please take that up to its developers, not us!

Most importantly, thank you for playing, and have fun!

-The Project Brutality team.

Inside the .7z file there is a .pk3 file, where do I put that file?

I have Project Brutality installed according to this video: Youtube.com

Here's how to install the PB_Staging version of PB:

The GitHub page for the PB_Staging branch is here: (https://github.com/pa1nki113r/Project_Brutality/tree/PB_Staging). You can always get there by clicking the drop-down on the upper left button and selecting the PB_Staging branch. Then, on the upper right, click the green 'code' button and select "download zip" and use it the same way you were using the Project_Brutality-master.zip file (just drag and drop it on top of GZDoom, or load it in ZDL, etc).

i don't know how to install this "hotfix" file either (and of course there's no instructions anywhere) but according to GitHub that branch was updated as recently as yesterday, so it may already incorporate this hotfix file which is now several days old. I played a few D2 levels with it real quick and it seems to be working fine.

hope that helps
