Current version:

1. What is XenoN Core?
Xenon Core is a complete engine for 2D and 3D games (for the moment focused on 2D), which contains six main modules:

  1. Photon:
    The module uses OpenGL library to rendering graphics, integrated with the physical module.
  2. Chaos:
    Module to simulate the physical world, based on a variety of substances and forces.
  3. Echo:
    Sound module that uses a free Audiere library to play nine popular audio formats. It supports standard and streaming playback.
  4. Ether:
    Network module that support sockets connections and having a ready functionality of HTTP protocol (other protocols in progress).
  5. Psyche:
    Artificial intelligence module based on Filtered Signal Neural Networks.
  6. TimeBridge:
    Virtual time control module, integrated with physics. Enables forward and backward simulations on the time axis. Still in progress.

2. Main features:

  • Fast and effective graphics rendering using OpenGL.
  • Playing music and sounds using Audiere library (supported formats: Uncompressed WAV, Uncompressed AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, MP3, MOD, S3M, IT, XM).
  • Physics of points (at the “atomic” level) based on the substances and forces such as:
    • Covalence forces – keep substances at given distance.
    • Moving forces – moving substances in a given direction. These forces are global, or local authorities when we combine them with substances.
    • Global forces – forces that moves all substances with the same power.
    • Black holes – force to suction or spitting substances (like implosion and explosion). The combination of black holes will teleport substances.
    • Wave forces – wave that attract (implosion) or repulse (Explosion) substances.
  • Support for network connections through sockets TCP/UDP.
  • Scenes and actors manager.
  • 2D and 3D camera
  • Canvases (special texture capable of rapid editing on the GPU).
  • DNA Models (Advanced Neuro-Dynamics; models containing physical bodies and minds that control them).
  • Graphic Effects (GLSL and ARB assembler shaders).
  • File buffers and support for virtual file system.
  • Fonts support, generated using Bitmap Font Generator (AngelCode;
  • The fully programmable graphical user interface (GUI).
  • Windows, mouse and keyboard support.
  • Particle effects.
  • Access to resources of the program.
  • Network Sessions (client-server type connections).
  • Technique Effects (special effects shaders; based on Intuicio).
  • Alarms (functions performed after a certain period of time).
  • Application manager (fully automated support for all elements of the game quite strong to facilitate its handling.)
  • Drawing Shapes (circle, triangle, square).
  • Frame Animation in 2D mode.
  • Views (display part of large area maps).
  • Loading images: BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, Exif, WMF, EMF.
  • Full transparent windows.
