MMH5.5: Running MMH55 on Ubuntu tutorial

Prerequisites:

• Steam Version of Heroes of Might & Magic V: Tribes of the East
• Heroes 5.5 installed on PC with Windows
• Having a PC with Ubuntu 19.04
• latest stable version of Wine installed
• Proton is enabled in Steam (steam->settings->steam play->enable steam play for all titles)

Steps to configure:

1. 1. Right click->properties, set launch options.
   use PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 DXVK_STATE_CACHE=0 PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
2. Under the compatibility tab, force the version to the latest stable (the one under "Experimental")
   
   
3. Navigate to "Steam>Settings>Steam Play" and activate the "Enable Steam Play for all other titles" option.
   
   
4. Download H5.5 installer exe, open a terminal window and navigate to ~/Downloads
5. Open H5.5 installer exe with Wine and follow the instructions of the installer as you would on Windows
   wine ./<nameoftheexe>.exe
6. After it's done, go to ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Ubisoft/Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East
7. Copy all of the files into the Heroes 5 installation directory (if you are unsure where it is, go to steam -> right click H5 -> properties -> local files -> browse local files) and overwrite any files it finds already exist
8. Go to the bin folder in the game install folder and rename H5_Game.exe to H5_Game.exe.backup and then MMH55_64.exe to H5_Game.exe
9. Launch the game from Steam. It may take up to 30 seconds.
   
   If you experience issues with FPS: Apply this fix every time you launch the game. In game lobby open "Options" and go to "Video and Audio" section. There select the "Anti-Aliasing" bar, change the value and hit "Apply". That should instantly fix the FPS. You can also change the setting back to the value you had before and hit "Apply" again, and the FPS should still be fine. Even if you start another match, the FPS should stay fine until the game is not closed.
