Abandoned cars will behave differently depending on the environment that they're in. E.g. a car left in the Mojave Desert, is going to last a long time. A car abandoned in Washington or San Francisco is going to have a very different fate.

Any cars in a coastal environment with salt in the atmosphere, they might not last more than 30-40 years. Tires deflate within a few years, although the rubber and synthetics they're made of will remain intact for centuries. Paint deteriorates quickly. And once it flakes away, rust corrodes the car's body at a rate of 5,000ths of an inch per year.

Up to 123 A.R. most cars, even in the most forgiving of environments, are reduced to skeletons. And in a coastal environment any family car is a barely recognizable heap of metal.

Keen to see where this goes. Assets and vision look and sound great. After Reset is not a great name though. Have you mentioned anywhere why you chose that?

I guess it's because of the A.D. reference (Anno Domini)?!

From a gaming standpoint I'd say "Reset" is a better title. You can still let people say A.R. in the game dialog.

I think the name makes good sense and is topical in relation to our computer oriented culture... If the game took place from the point of said Apocalypse, then "Reset" would make good sense. Judging by the state of that Semi, it's been at least a decade since that thing moved on it's own.. "After Reset" makes more sense to more.

Thank you, guys.

Yes, there are references to Anno Domini reference. Our common human civilization was destroyed and the things will never be the same. Even the whole Earth is "reset" giving a chance to birth for another one.

For those still in doubt regarding the quality of the art, I recommend checking the concept art environments these guys did.

And yeah, After Reset, is a very good title imho.

did you make a rust shader for this, as it seems pretty seamless and all the colors match really well with how its modeled, or is that just a nice AE bake im seeing?

This model does not use any special shader. This standart shader with diffuse, specular and bumpmap.
