Many of you had already suggested it. And now we've succeeded. We've completely disabled the heads-up display, minimap, detection indicators, crosshairs and changed a lot of the default graphical settings. I could not have done this without the help of Ziggy, otherwise known as dziggy, who suggested me to manually modify the XBT texture files dictating what the HUD looks like.
Converting the XBT files into a DDS format allows me to change all onscreen elements like the minimap and health indicator. So without further ado, I'd like to share the list of features currently implemented in the modified common and XML files. These will be part of the Open Beta on March 1. The Beta will also come with a lightweight third-party application allowing you to toggle the editor into fullscreen mode, which was not possible before.
+ Disabled minimap / HUD
+ Disabled crosshairs
+ Disabled tagging
+ Disabled 'wallhack' / 'x-ray vision'
+ Disabled detection indicator and sound effect
+ Disabled hit indicator
+ Disabled several pointless sound effects
+ Disabled onscreen prompts and messages
+ 10% increased FOV
+ Significantly decreased overall brightness (darkness is now pitch black)
+ Slightly lowered default contrast
+ Slightly increased gamma ramp
+ Enabled AlphaToCoverage by default
+ Increased default Anti-Aliasing from 0x to 2x
+ Default video quality set to Ultra High
+ Disabled PostFxQuality for increased performance
+ Free application to force editor into borderless fullscreen mode
So for those of you stating we don't know how to mod: there you go. ;)
Stay tuned and thanks for checking out our project!
