Post news Report RSS When September eeeeeeends...

...wake me up, and remind me to post an update. Oh wait!

Posted by on

So with september coming to a close (and mounting tension between us and the fans) I thought it would be appropriate to give you guys an update on what's happening with this mod.

So on with the update:

I'd like to begin, by saying the mod is NOT DEAD, it is just progressing really slowly. I know you've heard it over and over again, but the truth is, my graphics card died a couple months back, and I'm still in the process of getting a new one. (which is taking a lot longer than I expected...)

As you'd imagine this is making working on the mod (or making updates for it) fairly hard as I now have to constantly switch between my PC and laptop just to test even simple changes ingame. Not only is it incredibly annoying it prevents me from doing some things like record videos. *hint* *hint*

Also like any other normal person, we are busy with life and all it's little "wonders" that never fail to make it "interesting". One thing most people fail to understand is modding is not the only thing we do, and definitely not the easiest thing to do either. Modding is a hobby and as such we only do it somewhere within our already extremely limited free time.

Further more since we are working for free our motivation to work comes not only from our own tired, strained and battered wills, but also from you the ModDB fans. I'm not saying that you should never post criticism ever again, but don't come here, call us lazyasses, then eagerly expect the mod the next day. We do not like working for ignorant pricks! Instead we issue them this challenge: If you think you can do a better job then go right ahead!

We are sorry for the long delay, but really if we could work any faster we would, but the truth is we just freakin can't...

So just release the damn mod already!

Umm, no. Why? We'll to put in in simple terms IT'S NOT READY YET. There are still a lot of features that are only half implemented, still plenty of models that need fixing, still plenty of bugs that need ironing out, and still plenty of balance issues that need to be addressed. It is not a matter of lazyness, it is a matter of pride, pride of providing the fans with the amount of quality that is severely lacking in modding and even in gaming today. Anyone can make a mod. We make GOOD mods.

But, ShockWave...

If anyone makes another ShockWave comparison I'll find you and cut your balls off!!

But...

CUT YOUR BALLS OFF!!!

...

Right... well I am done. Thanks for reading my little rant. I will post a real update as soon as I can. In the mean time stay tuned for a big CCU update coming real soon! PEACE OFF!

Unless your a hater then PISS OFF!

It's been abit TOO long for this mod. I know, i know, i know.

But with bigger games releasing this Q4 of 2011, i don't think interest in CnC gen mods are still gonna get up the hype.

Generals... or any C&C game for that matter are Classics that will never lose their hype, the game is always improving with mods. :)

Glad to hear from you, this way ensures us that the mod is not dead, and I don't want it too, seems the most promising mod to come! And some of us understand the conditions for making a mod!

When you sit and wait and wonder, even a simple update with STILL WORKING ON IT, is still gives you a relief!

Just one thing, make it work with other mods! I mean, I don't want the surprise to install, in a new folder, and then for the other mods not to work! I still want to play another mod, and I don't want to install uninstall and reinstall again and again just to play another mod! Thank you for understanding!

man there's no need to uninstall things, just make a copy of your ZH folder and install the mod in this new copied folder then go inside it right-click on the ZH icon and create a shortcut, rename itfor example, "GenerationX" and you could play the mod without unistall the old one (wich will start with the old launcher icon).
In short(cut) it's only a matter of icon.
At least this worked for me, anyway If I'm not wrong Zeke has written a small guide to play multiple mods, in case serch for it

I understand everyone wants to release really good mod, but in case of slow progress I suggest to release what you have now and add new progress as a patch. Of course it will not be balanced now, of course there will be some bugs, but players can find them more quickly than few of you.

In fact you will never be finished. After one version you will get some new ideas, discover few more bugs and imbalances - and players will wait next three years to get fixes and upgrades.

I don't want to shout on you to release immediately if you don't want to, but I'll bet it is already playable and makes more fun than waiting to new and new progress.

I already said my reasons, I'm not repeating them. A beta has already been planned, it will be done when it's done.

It was a suggestion, a view of opposite side without any forcing, it didn't deserve your minus ;)

You got a minus because you basically suggested the opposite of what I said after I explained why I'm not doing it already.

tl;dr you basically ignored me -__-

Heh i've waited long time too , but i can understand without GFX it does get annoying , mine went during a cs: source match and i blew my head off ... ranting and raving , i suppose pride is the only thing you can achieve from making a mod , so gfood luck , and hopefully it won't be to long before a beta is out ;> [lol i joined ms studiods 2007/8 not sure been waiting since so your not the only guy lol] .. good luck and Peace Out
