So here's a list of what I'm currently planning to add in the next version:
1. Vehicle Props
I've finally ripped the models and textures for all the vehicles in the game and have decided to add them into the mod as props so that people can see what they look like in-game as well as use them for any map/mission making that the vehicles could help make look better.
2. Heavy Assault armour
I've rigged up the heavy assault skins for each faction to be used by their corresponding "mgun" units in the spawn menu. This also means they are somewhat easier to kill than before since they currently just use a regular troopers skin, but with the body armour equipped over the top of it, which gives them increased damage resistance in the chest area.
3. Infiltrator skin
Despite what I mentioned in a comment earlier, I've decided to postpone adding the elite units for a few updates down the line for now so that I can spend more time practicing with construction and set pieces so that people can build properly themed bases and maps. But as a replacement, I've started working on rigging each factions infiltrator skins to replace the current "snipers" in order to fit in more with the actual class on Planetside. At this moment in time, I only have the TR infiltrator done but I'm obviously going to have the NC and VS ones done for the updates release time.
There's also going to be a couple of minor stat changes, like buffing the snipers up a bit more (though you'll still probably need to lock-on to a target to get a 1 shot kill) and editing the lightning tank to fire more powerful shells but be less armoured so its much easier to take down again.
So please tell me what you think so far and feel free to post any suggestions into the comments.
Thanks.
I like the whole fact you've gotten the vehicles over. Not gonna ask if you could but was gonna see how you learned where to code vehicles or change them from a prop to an actual actor or usable one. Messed with some that weren't usable from default but never figured it out.
A lot of what I learned about coding for the vehicles was literally just copying and pasting the code from a vanilla tank and changing little things at a time to see what changed every time. It probably wasn't the most efficient method but it got the job done in the end.
But the whole modelling part and setting the correct volumes and such I learned from a video guide somewhere on YouTube, if you want a link I could hunt it down or if you want one of my 3ds max files to look through the at your own pace feel free to ask.
Thats how I've been learning breeding/weapons etc. Just looking at the vanilla files so I'll go through that and sure to the youtube link I'd appreciate it. Got some vehicles that were props that I'd like to see as working ones not to mention yours.
It's not the easiest guide to follow but it's what helped me get to the point I'm at now. Feel free to PM me if you get especially stuck on anything and I'll do my best to help you out.
will the vanus tank be able to strafe? :3
Whilst that would be pretty awesome, I don't think it's possible with the vehicle physics in the GEM engine unfortunately.
mmmh... by adding a key for a new movement type maybe.
or by making the main gun unable to turn while forcing the tank to point where it is aiming so it will automaticly turn when aiming and strafe when 'turning' left and right.
Whilst interesting ideas, it seems the locomotion section of the code can only allow movement in one direction (forward) as there's only speed settings related to forward, reversing and turning. The only way it could side strafe would be if I set forward to the models side, but then it wouldn't be able to go in the correct direction. Unless you can find another vehicle which sidestrafes then I could try to replicate the code of course
How you made vehicles cuz I saw a lot of videos and I nothing understood
I can pretty much guarantee that those videos are better at explaining it than I am. So if you couldn't understand them I'm not really sure if I'd be able to help and it's a process too long just to put into text format on a comment.
Where you saw tutorials ? Can you give me a link ?
Id love to see the heavy assaults get their full armor suit, and somehow making it protect the entire body that is covered in it.
That would be cool, but unfortunately the MoW engine only allows equipable body armour to be used as protection. To compensate it though, I increased the heavy assaults health slightly.
