Some Brit design meetings, Getting the code back together and a new PHP programmer.

Hey all,

Time for some updates.

Website/Back end:
After several weeks of hard work on the WARCP, Gary is taking some time off - WarCP is and has been done for a bit now, some changes still to be made but I expect it'll be completely finalized a week or so after Gary returns.... Our new Artist DoomBringer (Don't think he's Joined the Team, just doing them freelance) has been hard at work on new icons for the WarCP.

o far he's done all of the unit icons for all 4 factions (each with a different coloured background) including all custom unit icons (my personal favourite is the Ambush Squad....)

If ya'll want to see more, comment and I'll post up the Americans (with all the new units) and Wehr icons next week...

Draygon has been adding things we missed into the Database and working with our new addition to the team, Mike (Morteo on vent) who is also a PHP coder and has joined the team to help us with some of the other systems that need to be built but Gary hasn't had time for.... The one he's spent the last week or so working on is this...

Its our first alpha of the Doctrine Ability system: you left click on an ability to add points and right click to take them away, pre-requisites are in and working, when you mouse over an ability it'll tell you what it does and light up the abilities you need to have before your allowed to buy it. He's got a bit more work to do on it, then we'll be adding a graphical interface to it so it's all pretty and going from there. All in all we're really excited about the great work that Mike has brought to the project and can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

Coding:
In in-game coding news, after last weeks setback with the code loss we thought that it would take months to re-create what had been lost, but thanks to Cozmo's ingenuity (and spectacular memory) he's more than halfway through the re-code, and says he has all the hard bits out of the way - Keep up the good work Cozmo!

Bonte has also been hard at work.... except right now he's out shooting deer! That's right folks, he's been off in the woods for the last week or so stalking Bambi's Mother (good eats, I hear!) and as soon as he bags one he'll be back and ready to dig into British implementation....

Which brings me to our next section

Balance/Design:
Over the last week or so we've had 2 public meetings discussing the British, how they should play, what to do about the movement penalty, and lots of work has been accomplished between those two meetings - I think we're going to have one final one and then get to work on the doctrines for the new factions.... Until then we're all just brainstorming and preparing for what is always quite a task of coming up with 50+ interesting, useful, not OP, and unique abilities for each doctrine. Wish us luck! We'll be posting drafts as soon as they're ready.

Art & Mapping

Two distinct groups here, but I'm shoving them together in one simply because I think there hasn't been much going on here - A number of new Maps are completed, but waiting for an OMG release for testing to begin - Art as well has not been too active, but I think that's mainly due to the Holiday.

So that's your update for this week! Again, sorry about the tardiness - Anything you want discussed next week? Post it up here!

Thanks!

OMG Development Team

Relic are never really gonna release a full SDK, the one we have atm was made by a very talented community member... not relic, and due to the comming DLC/add-on (tales of valor) fully featured mods (new models anims, sounds etc) would really weaken the income from these products, and thus is not profitable for THQ to allow the tools to be released.
