Since the start of the Nova War, the UTF has seen the replacement of one of it's most recognized ship and the oldest ship in the UTF Tactical Navy. The UTF Fighter Mark I has served for the last 25 years as a very reliable escort ship for UTF Bombers and Gunships, but the threat from the NGM Heavy Fighter has pushed High Command to adopt a new fighter craft.
The UTF Fighter Mark II has a larger chassis with more weapons. The design also allows for quick turns and very responsive controls. The new UTF Fighter has more armour than it's predecessor, allowing it to hold it's ground against the Heavy Fighter.
It is still armed with standard particle cannons and swarm missiles. The new fighter brings
with it a more powerful reactor allowing it to sustain fire for longer than before, and this new reactor may allo even more powerful weapons to be fitted to the craft. UTF scientists are currently researching more powerful weapons for the craft on the sequestered Iota Station. New developments are coming soon.
The UTF Fighter is still the most agile craft in the UTF Tactical Navy, and no Bomber or Gunship
pilot feels safe without one. Fighter Pilots are trained to draw fire away from these important targets then out-maneuver and kill the attackers. They are very vulnerable to fire from point defence systems however, since they sacrifice speed and firepower for armour. Fighter pilots caught in flak have very few options.
Sorry we're a bit late this week. Happy Holidays to all from the Eternal Silence team.
