Hello, my name is Jen. I'm the newest volunteer of ModDB. Let me tell you a bit about myself.

As the subject said, my name is Jen! I'm the newest ModDB Volunteer Content Manager. I first joined the site at the beginning of the year after lurking for a good while (since 2008, I think) following two specific mods: Black Mesa and Enterprise: Temporal Cold War. I have been interested in video games ever since I got the original NES for Christmas. From there, I kept wanting the latest and greatest. I think I first got into game development when I was in 8th Grade. I bought a book about game development, and it came with the Genesis3D engine. At that time, I didn't have Internet access, and absolutely no way for others to see my work. I did make some pretty cool games considering the engine was still fairly new around that time. I messed around with some other engines once I got Internet access, but I didn't seem to have that creative spark I did when I was first exposed to game development.

When I discovered this site in 2008, I had just purchased the Valve Complete Pack (before Left 4 Dead was released). When I discovered there were mods available for those games, I quickly downloaded a few and wondered how it was done. A few forum searches lead me to the Source SDK. At that time, I had no idea it was free to download, and was expecting the cost to be hundreds of dollars. Imagine how happy I was to learn it was free! I got to work on a few Portal maps right away. They were just simple maps without any scripting (except to end the map) and were comprised of different flinging techniques. To this day, I have never attempted to create a mod for anything other than Portal, however I am working on a Portal 2 map pack.

Currently, I work from home with the game company my husband and I founded earlier this year. We were invited to participate in a fan-made ARG (Alternative Reality Game) developed by some of the participants in Valve's Portal 2 ARG. Other than that, I've dedicated myself to ModDB, helping it remain the #1 spot for the latest mods and indie games.

My full name is Jennifer, but I go by Jen. I'm 27 years old and live in Pennsylvania, United States. I'm married and have no kids, nor do we plan on it. I'm a cat lover! I enjoy a good puzzle game (Cogs and RUSH had me hooked for hours!)

I will usually spend my spare time in Garry's Mod, Portal 2 Co-op, or Source SDK. I'm also in the process of developing an RPG.

I'm also willing to help anyone out with just about anything. You can give me a shout on Skype (explosiveremix) or my PM box here.

I'm extremely happy to be part of the team, and I'll be seeing you around the database!

Live long and prosper,

Can someone explain how a seemingly not so active member became a content manager? Do you (Darkpsy) personally know other staff members? Not to be a jealous bitch or anything, just curious because it is pretty unexpected :)

And ehm.. well.. yay congratulations and good luck, I guess? :D What does one say in such a situation?

True, it looks weird. The first thing I did was open her profile and check her activity points, ah well... we don't have to know everything I suppose...

Good. Now can we get some moderators who could delete some of the obviously trolling mod profiles and TBD mods that haven't been updated for 3-4 years?

Indeed. That's why we'd rather have cats than dogs. I think cats are much smarter than most dogs.

considering dogs are pack animals. i know that working in a team requires allot of intelligence and understanding where as cats cant even some humans cant. i rest my case ;)

Very interesting article. I hardly read these sort of things, but it intrigued me. Welcome to Mod DB... the only question I have is: how can I help with the site?
