Time has passed, questions has been raised:

"Is this mod dead?"
"This mod seem awful, will it get better?"
"It's too short! :'("

Well folks, TFO is not dead. It just started, and hopefully I will give you details of what will happen in the coming months, your questions will hopefully be answered.
For a starter, let's take look at some statics:

  • Coding: 90-95% complete
    Modeling: 90% complete
    Sound: 70% complete
    Scripting: 95% complete
    Materials: 95% complete
    Mapping: 60% complete
Choreography: 0% complete // Really need voice actors for this part, seriously...

Now let's see, TFO v1.0 Beta took maximum about 30 min to finish.
And why is that? Simply because I barely had added any story build up, simple objectives, few enemies. But this will change, both gameplay, atmosphere, feeling will change. I will create lots of notes to immerse the player and tell the story of what sins Schienzel committed within his mansion. Attached to every note there will be a storyteller. And the objectives will be more revealing and difficult to complete.
New enemies has been added, new NPC's as well as a whole new HUD, and new weapons, fixed ironsight with fov. As well I have remade the main menu, added new panels, etc...
Pretty much The Forgotten Ones v2.0 is a full remake.

Chapter 1 will be greatly expanded, while Chapter 2 will be pimped up with details. And during loading screen I have added loading images for a better atmosphere. And chapter 3 will be expanded too. And a new chapter will also be featured in this release.

So perhaps now your question is: "Will v2.0 be the final release?" the answer is No. There will be a third release which will feature the two last chapters. And who knows what more will be featured in the final release... I need time to think what will happen next and how I will illustrate it in-game, even though I already have the images in my head. Unfortunately it needs more effort to put such an idea appear on to the screen.

From now on I will not reveal a lot of pictures, videos, etc... I'm working very hard and so far I'm feeling confident that v2.0 will really be big. So stay tuned, this mod is not dying. This mod is growing for every hour. But as a secret, but yet I will release a maximum 5 min gameplay video in the coming months...
So that's all for now, thanks for reading. And I hope you will all give this mod a second chance to prove itself, I'm certain v2.0 will be worth playing. Now I have said what I want to say, it's up to you folks to decide whether or not you would like to try it out, or perhaps you would rather wait for the 5 min gameplay video to get excited. ;)

"Now let's see, TFO v1.0 Beta took maximum about 30 min to finish."

I hope you were kidding, because if that were true, its a disgrace to all Source modders everywhere. You think what people do on Source is easy? People who put their time, sweat, and blood into creating something on the canvas that is the Source engine should be people who give a **** about making something great.

Its like cooking. Just because 'anyone can cook' doesn't mean 'anyone should.' Same applies to modding. Godspeed, because what has been shown so far for this mod leaves ridiculously much to be desired.

If your ******* would have played the mod you would see that he completly remade the game, custom textures, models, sounds, and weapons, he just did not put much story in it which he is fixing in 2.0.

Worry about your crap mods.

Troll.

Didnt you quit being a modder? When you ridicoulessly failed your previous mods? Joker the failer?

I don't know why you are so mad, the* Joker...

Here's a funny fact: I used around 4 months to create 30 min of gameplay, I worked hard and structured towards the first release and I put passion and love into what I did, but my skills were weaker at that time and I have kept improving them. So hopefully this release will be something very different.

And just because my mod didn't take too long to finish doesn't make it a disgrace... I have played a few horror mods that were short and I still enjoyed them quite much, good examples: Quietus and Nestlings... And Nightmare House 1.

Good day to you... :)

I see you've put a lot of effort into this with all the custom content, thumbs up for this.
Indeed you've created an interresting mod, but still it could be so much better.

Here's a list of things i think that need to be improved:
- proportions of doors and some other brushwork
- more detailed architecture (right now it's allmost HL1 like with some better textures)
- lightning and ambient sound (wind, rain, thunder, crackling wood beams, sound of footsteps, whispering voices etc.)
- overall graphical style

Maybe get a decent mapper to help you out with the mapping part and concentrate on coding and modelling.

Coding and modelling is pretty much on the edge of completion. So I'm focusing a lot on the mapping right now. As well as adding scenes and an immersible story.
