The DCI:LA team presents

The DCI Map

The Second Age strategy map is a modified version of the Third Age:Total War-map, with uniqe custom changes.
All map work credited to Withwnar.

The focus of the presentation are the new regions, border changes and other climate & terrain edits.
The video do not go into name- or size-changes of settlements, nor the strat models or custom settlements, though the latter may become focus of a video in the future.

As my first ingame video I take any shortcomings upon myself, but hope you shall enjoy:

Map looks amazing! Really liking the grey mountains split with south and north!
Looking forward for the faction preview videos.

Did i hear/see correctly that Edhellond is part of Silvan elves of Lorien?
Has there been any issues with the AI (of the silvan evles) attacking at Numenorean kingdoms?
AI normally dosent like to have there kingdom beign dotted around :)

Glad to hear :)

Correct, it's part of Lothlórien! But no, there has not been a single occasion of hostilities in any test campaigns, because we planned ahead for this matter;
If the player is neither Lothlórien or the Númenórean Kingdoms, then they're auto-allied after some time, in case they not solved it themselves already.
If the player is Lothlórien or the Númenórean Kingdoms, then he has to take care of forming an alliance himself, but since the factions starts very friendly and have Mordor as common enemy (making them further friendly towards each other) the player has good enough time to be diplomatic.
True, gladly the Silvans handle it well enough, holding back Mordor in the north and often rebuking Harad down south ^^

Niceee. Personally, I would like to see the Elves a bit more involved in the fight against Mordor rather than just the usual Gondor vs Mordor, just that without cair andros this time. I suggest, and its rather a borrowed idea, I don't know if you guys played The Last Days mod for M&B warband. In that mod, in order to keep the AI in the front of battle at all times even when some factions are defeated and the next enemy is very far away, a script would trigger giving the factions a settlement named "camp", so then their armies would be able to keep fighting and replenishing even against a distant enemy. So, following that line, maybe it would be cooler if, as the elves of gil-galad, you could own some "camps" close to dagorlad so they would be more active in terms of fighting against Sauron. You know, this is The Last Alliance mod, I wanna see elves and men fighting together in the campaign map. It's just a suggestion anyway, the map it's looking great. Cheers!

A Glorfindel story coming up!

There is exactly one singel reason behind the creation of DCI: Last Alliance, and that is the so called "Tôl Acharn".
Me and Witwhnar developed it for our previous submod DCI: Tôl Acharn (while most who played it done so in MOS, in which it is included).
It is a 'counter-invasion' for good factions [the jihad in M2, just as the 'Invasion' in TATW is the crusade].
Through it good factions may descend upon their enemies as a tidal wave of fury. Never before I knew we could see Elves and Men [and Dwarves on occasion] co-operate upon distant foes I had any interest in a Last Alliance war-mod.
In this game the Kingdom of Lindon, the Númenórean Kingdoms, Lothlórien and Eryn Galen ["Mirkwood"] can call the TA, and mind you, they do.
If the Men of the Mountains prove good Oathkeepers they can join and call too; while if the player is Rhovanion or the Kingdom of Khazad-dûm, and is allied to a calling faction, he can join in on the attacks as well.

I've seen Silvan Elves of Eryn Galen wrest Osgiliath from the hands of Mordor.
I seen the Númenórean Kingdoms kicking out the Easterlings of Rhûn from Rhovanost in Rhovanion, and Lórien Elves contest Carn Dûm against the Hill-men.
As the Dwarves I joined the liberation of towns in the vale of Anduin from the filthy Orcs of the Misty Mountains.

One of my more cherished memories was in a Númenórean campaign, where I felt I needed aid to hold my Harad front, while busy against Mordor.
I called a TA against the Harad castle of Barad Ancalimon, and Lo! all my allies [Men of the Mountains included, as I persuaded them to stay loyal] marched against the Southlands:

The Kingdom of Lindon captured it, with a force commanded by Glorfindel the Golden himself.
Not only did he then hold on to their price, the Lindon Elves started to hunt down any Harad forces passing by trying to get to me. Glorfindel attacked, and whether the enemy had much larger forces or not, Glorfindel just did not give a damn. If they were around, they were going down.

By the time I could join in properly in the south, I had to rush to get in fornt of Lindon forces to attack the nearby settlements first, because Gil-galad apperently had commanded them to expand ;)

I hope this shall give an indication that the warfare here can have a bit of variety ^^

The map is looking great. I can't wait to play as the Numenorean Kingdoms. I hope it's quite a challenge.

Have you considered implementing some strat mmodels from divide and conquer? Dwarven towns, wildman castles etc.

Indeed you shall enjoy it then!
NK start with the greatest realm and resources. But the Southern realm have Mordor and Harad at the door, while the Northern realm have the Hill-men on one end and the Wild Men of Enedwaith at the other, while Goblins form the mountains never mind to harass you.
And of course, you never know if you may trust the Men of the Mountains to hold their Oath... ;)

In part, yes indeed. We use some of their Dwarven models, in a modified version, and modified the vanilla models, to suit our needs

Example of military settlement (castle): I.imgur.com

Are you guys still considering adding more factions? If so that would be nice to maybe not split the dwarves up so badly and giving them seperate factions. Btw I love the work on the mod so far, I came to look at it because Arachir mentioned it in one of his vids. Can't wait and thx for all the work on it!

Hey Ngugi just wondering if you are going to change some settlement names such as East Rhudaur, West Rhudaur, Grey mountains, Etc.
again great job on this mod

I suggested renaming East Rhudaur myself right prior to making the video, actually, but the team's English native speakers [which I'm not, clearly] opposed the notion hehe.
It still is the eastern part of the East Forest, and the change would apprently call for changes all those names then, and furthermore its named "East-" in an alien tongue (to all but the minority nobility).
All in all, we concluded to leave it as it is; the player can after all rename it whatever he wants ingame when he captures it.

As we prefere to not make up names for settlements in well-known parts of ME, they'll remain named after the region they're in, and what names are used ATM are settled for the release.
As again, the players can rename them at their leasure.
