Status Update news

Hey guys, I'm R4pt0r, the new coder for Dino-Instinct. This mod has faced numerous setbacks over the years but has managed to persevere. The latest setback was the loss of the main coder, aTp. He was unable to be contacted and the mod team lost the source code he had written (not much, from what I hear)

Anyway, I am very interested in this mod, and our recent stint in the top 5 has shown that there are tons of other people who are also interested. Unfortunately, with the loss of the source code, we have to start over again (we still have models, sounds, etc but we could always use some more help!).

To avoid the problem of lost source code in the future, I am setting up a SVN Repository to store the source, as well as help with version control and division of labor. This will allow the team to access the source code even if I die in an avalanche, so we should not have the same setback ever again.

I am currently in the process of learning my way around the Source SDK in preparation for actually starting work on the mod. Work will hopefully start sometime next week and a very rough alpha version should be ready shortly after.

We have all kinds of great plans and ideas for this mod, some of which will take a long time to implement. Our initial releases will focus on the basics (maps, animations, models, sounds, fighting, etc) and later releases will (hopefully) include things like a sense of smell (somewhat like thermal vision in "The Hidden") and a pack/herd combat system.

We have so many great ideas for this mod, but our team is small and needs help to make them happen. If you're interested in helping or just want to say "hi" or make suggestions, please stop by our site at
