Post news Report RSS Star Wars Battlefront Celebration Weekender!

Greetings Troopers! Nope, we've not decided to rename First Strike Star Wars Battlefront. That would get really messy to say the least. No, to celebrate the announcement at E3 that DICE are (at long last) producing a Star Wars Battlefront game. (If you need any inspiration DICE, don't hesitate to get in touch) We feel we should have a bit of a weekender of First Strike action, Saturday and Sunday night from 8pm BST (British Summer Time). So feel free to hop on the Rebel Defiance server (New Ventrilo Server details: vent-uk.gamingdeluxe.co.uk, Port No: 4904), and lets get some good games going while looking forward to the first DICE SW: Battlefront. I like to think First Strike will have inspired them in at least some small way. Especially since all those years ago when the mod first came out, members of the dev team got invited to their studios to demo the mod. Check out the link below for one of the proudest moments in First Strike history:

First Strike goes to DICE!

All I can say is "About bleedin' time DICE, now make it Awesome!"

Check out the teaser trailer here:

I guess we'd best hurry up and get Hoth finished.

See you out there troopers!

In just a 25 second teaser, DICE won me over everything else I saw at E3. Now time to start saving a LOT of money to get an Alienware laptop that can handle this game when it comes out. XD

why would you buy a laptop for gaming? do you actually need the portability? And if you absolutely need a laptop I would recommend Asus ROG, or MSI Dragon Edition. Alienware is terrible, so I don't recommend buying their products. In general if you need a very good computer and it doesn't have to be a laptop follow this guide: Linustechtips.com it will get you a better PC for a better price, with intelligently spend money:)

I got an MSI ge70 laptop last summer. It's been fine for all gaming needs! I'd recommend a PC though as laptops tend to get hot and in summer that's gonna be a problem if you live in a hot place.

So in conjunction with The First Strike Star Wars Battlefront Celebration Weekender let's hear what you'd like to see from a new SW: Battlefront now in the trustworthy hands of DICE. Gameplay of a similar style to the original SW:BF? Something more like DICE's current gameplay style from the Battlefield series? Heck, maybe you'd like to see some of the gameplay mechanics or other elements utilised in First Strike make an appearance? Or perhaps you're after something totally fresh and new? Let's hear what you think.

I'd love to see a big budget version of First Strike. The mod doesn't need heroes and plays well without them, though the bounty hunter kits seem popular at times.

Good space maps, perhaps with boarding on (and I don't mean the poor excuse that was in it before hand), real corridor by corridor clearance stuff.

Big mega ship space battles, such as around Endor.

I'm with you there, big epic space battles (essentially X-Wing) done with next gen graphics, a good mix of close quarters city or cap ship interior based battles and wide open battlefields such as Hoth and Endor. I'm just buzzing at the thought of that gritty Battlefield feel being applied to the Star Wars universe, which is what First Strike was all about achieving. If they take one thing from First Strike I'd like it to be Withering Fire, the game mechanic by which all battlefield assets are susceptible on some level to any and all weapons fire. So you don't feel you have to run away if you come face to face with a tank if you don't have the correct kit to effectively take it on, so even a hand pistol will do some damage, not a lot obviously, but if there are a load of you all firing pistols at that target? I think that was one of the strongest design decisions made on FS which really defined the gameplay and resulted in players working more readily as a team together to take down superior foes. It would be nice to see something along those lines make it into the new SW:BF.
