Post news Report RSS Recruiting Beta Testers + KotOR/TOR era staff

Hello all! With the Vong faction having received their overhaul and now being in a fully playable status, I am pleased to announce that we are looking for beta testers to help us hammer out any possible bugs and balance issues. In addition, we are seeking out coders, riggers, and artists, of any skill level, to take on and nurture the KotOR and/or TOR eras. I will personally tutor those interested in partaking in this endeavor before handing them total control over these eras to them.

Hello all! With the Vong faction having received their overhaul and now being in a fully playable status, I am pleased to announce that we are looking for beta testers to help us hammer out any possible bugs and balance issues. The current beta is run via a Git repository hosted on Bitbucket; full installation details and registration requirements can be found here. To get in, simply PM me your Bitbucket user name or email, or post it here in the comments! It must be noted however, that unlike the old SVN beta, people getting access and then never giving any feedback will not be accepted. In other words, if we do not hear from you for 6-12 months, don't be surprised if you find out that you no longer have access to the repository. We also are doing MP matches on the beta, so if you like MP, this is a good thing to get in on!

The Ro'ik Va'lh, the last Vong ship that is awaiting completion.

On to other matters, I must apologize for the rather cruel April Fools event we had this year. However, it is not a reason to lose hope, but is a reason to gain it! As now it is my pleasure to announce that SoGE is seeking out coders, riggers, and artists, of any skill level, to take on and nurture the KotOR and/or TOR eras. I will personally tutor those interested in partaking in this endeavor before leaving the balancing, rigging, and other necessary work, for these eras to our newcomers. It is also worth noting that Sins "code" is absurdly simple to edit, check out this frigate for an example. The dream of times of old is within reach, but you must reach up and take it in your own hands! There are also more models avaliable than the ones featured in the OR teaser; they just need rigging.

Interdictor
The Interdictor, the iconic warship of Revan's Sith Empire.

There have been a lot of people recently asking about the infamous crashing to desktop without warning issue. This solution, mentioned in the last news post, has proven itself to be a surefire way of fixing the problem, and is something I cannot recommend enough; that being using Large Address Aware on the Sins executable. By doing this, one eliminates the RAM issues SoGE can cause. In addition, using the Squad Size Redux Addon both decreases RAM usage and helps keep lag at bay.

Finally, it is my great pleasure to reveal the new ISD and Tector meshes created by Maxloef. Rigged from the ground up by myself, these vessels are ready to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of the Empire. Further, the side turrets fire their own unique particles; octuple barbettes and heavy dual cannons are now in!

Hey, just wondering, what language is Sins written in?

Sins entities themselves aren't written in any particular language; no "real" coding experience is needed. Here's an example of a frigate, as you can see, most of the value names are self-descriptive: Pastebin.com

For the main SoGE project, we are in dire need of those willing to do organic/nature-like structures and ships for the Vong. For the KotOR/TOR project; they will definitely need new leader pictures, and model wise will depend on what the coders feel those factions are missing, whether it be ships or structures.

For beta, follow the instructions linked in the news post and send me your Bitbucket info.

I think I'd be interested in learning more indepth coding aspects of Sins.
Though, I'm somewhat in a committed relationship with SotP.

For the most part you know most of the basics I would be teaching anyhow. You're better with code than M4 at this point.
