The House of Normandy

Armoirie de la Maison de Normand

The beginnings of the House of Normandy :

The House of Normandy, also known as the Rollonids, are the descendants of the first Norman duke who was called Rollon. In 911, the latter concluded the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte with Charles III the Simple (king of West Francia, the ancestor of the kingdom of France). He granted Rollo lands that would form the basis of the future Duchy of Normandy, but in exchange he had to convert to Christianity and undertook to block the incursions of the Northmen who threatened the Frankish kingdom. Later, Rollo's descendants would turn Normandy into a powerful and prosperous principality that reached its peak in 1066 with the capture of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom by William the Conqueror.

The House of Normandy at the beginning of the campaign :

Since 1066, William of Normandy had taken over the kingdom of England. It was only in 1075 that he was able to put an end to the revolts that were ravaging the country. William then sought to strengthen his new kingdom, as his army had been greatly reduced.

It was 1080 and despite the size of the territories held by William the Conqueror, King Philip I hoped by all means to reduce the excessive power of his Norman vassal. The duke-king would have to be vigilant, for even if he were able to conquer a kingdom, it would only take one fatal mistake to wipe out everything he had undertaken in his life. But if he is bold, he may well succeed in uniting the kingdom of England and France under his House...

Hello, your mod looks very promising.
How are the "family" concept is gonna play in the game ? Are rivals families gonna try to take over in the political game ?
Are you gonna have the "small house" like the House of Ponthieu who fought against William etc ...?

Thanks, we'll do everything to make sure it keeps its promises!

For the moment and as you can see the mod is still in beta even if we already have our little ideas. We will try to limit adoptions as much as possible, and if you adopt the characters, you will have a malus because of the bastard trait that we have revised. The adoptions will be limited to push the player to make marriages with the different factions and thus build alliances. But we still have to think about other things we could do with the mod. Then, concerning the factions, we went from 10 to 23 factions, I think that's already quite a lot between two betas. It's true that we can go up to 31 factions (including Rebels). However, I think that the next factions will be added according to several criteria: the importance of the faction at the time, its history over time and if we have enough information on it to make it a faction.

I hope that I have answered your questions and that you will give us feedback on your experience of the mod.
