is now officially resurrected!

As you may have noticed the page has been updated with new promotional art as well as a new logo. I am happy to announce that New Ordnance is back in development.

With this resurrection, I've decided to make many changes to my project. I've put a lot of thought into what New Ordnance should be, as well as what I'm realistically capable of doing without a team. Here I would like to share with all of you the new features overview. Your feedback will help me to refine New Ordnance and shape it into something much better than I could do alone. Please feel free to share your ideas and suggestions, and don't be afraid to be critical of my work. I realize the importance of criticism and I always take it into account.

I've picked up many new skills since I've been gone and I'm excited to put them to use once again. It is because of this that I feel confident in going forward with this first and most profound change; I will be replacing most, if not all vanilla guns with new and different guns. This means all new models, textures, sounds, and animations. This will in turn create a completely different experience than what vanilla Call of Pripyat has to offer. Do not be mistaken, I am not just replacing vanilla models with new models of the same guns, I am replacing the actual guns with new guns. (i.e. the ak-74 replaced with an akm, the lr300 with an m16, ect.) A new arsenal to experience Call of Pripyat with.

There are many reasons why I have chosen to do this. Most importantly, the vanilla models are becoming more and more dated as time passes. Another reason is that there are already many mods which replace the existing vanilla models with better ones. One most notable to me is Gunslinger. I simply don't feel like working on the vanilla guns when Gunslinger is doing it exceptionally well. I plan to, in the future, make a version of New Ordnance for Gunslinger when it is released as well. So for now it makes sense to only work on new guns for Call of Pripyat. Of course, in parallel with my initial concept for this project, I will be adding multiple variants for each gun to add to the immersion.

One key feature most important to me in any first person shooter is balance. This will be imperative in New Ordnance. I have played many mods for each STALKER game over 8 years, and it feels to me in my experience that too often the guns blend together. They all sort of feel the same. Not even a quarter through the game the gunplay becomes bland and I am just collecting different guns for their looks. It is because of this I have gone and learned everything I can about the ballistics and damage system in STALKER so I can make sure I have full control of the balance. I want each gun to feel like it serves a purpose. I want each gun to feel different. I will be putting meticulous detail into the balance of New Ordnance, all the way down to my choices of guns to include in my mod.

Weapon wear will play a huge role in balancing New Ordnance. This feature is still being planned, but what I will say is it will play a much bigger role than before. Guns in new condition will be much harder to find, and there will be varying levels of wear for each gun. (If you've ever played CSGO, think skin condition)

Every gun will have a new upgrade tree, and will be accounted for in balancing New Ordnance. I am planning for a new system that will allow for much more diversity in terms of how you can upgrade your gun. You gun's stats will be more personalizable and distinct than before.

---

With this being a complete re-visioning of New Ordnance, I will be starting from scratch. Some features I have planned are too far off to announce right now, but I can assure you, there are many more treats for you all to come in the future. I will be posting my progress more frequently as I'm able to so as to keep you all in the loop! Some of you may be weary of me disappearing again as I have in the past, so I want to dispel any of those fears. New Ordnance is truly back and alive once again!

So are you planning this mod to be on a somewhat decent scale like Arsenal Overhaul?

Lol, I love how you phrased that. Yes, I sure hope it will be at least somewhat decent, but I am personally striving for higher than that. I will be using models from around the stalker modding scene. I will try to pick only the best quality models and animations. If Mp5lng is willing, he may compile HQ models for me, he has already helped me with a HQ Colt 1911. I myself will be doing the texture work for creating weapon variants and wear. I think you will like what I have in store for weapon wear. I plan to make this much more than just a weapon overhaul, but it is too soon to reveal all the details.

Also, I would like to thank all of you guys for your support! :D
