The award winning Project Reality Team is proud to announce the official release of Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 BETA! Six months after our initial release, we have been hard at work fixing bugs and working on new gameplay features and missions. You can find more details on all of these changes and features below.

Please note that you must have ARMA2: Combined Operations installed and be running the ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead v1.60 patch in-order to play the Project Reality: ARMA 2 mod. In addition we highly recommend using the latest BIS beta patch as there have been several important bug-fixes since patch 1.60. If you use a beta patch, ensure you add the switch '-beta' to your Project Reality shortcut. More help available in the forums if required.

BETA Release

As with PR:ARMA2 v0.1 back in September, this release is a BETA and therefore should NOT be considered a final product. It should also be noted that this is v0.15 of a brand new mod on a new game engine and should not be compared in anyway to the Project Reality: BF2 modification. The aim of this BETA release is for the PR Team to get quality feedback to ensure that we are progressing in the right direction with the PR:ARMA2 mod.

We have various assets and a new island almost complete, but they are simply not ready to be included in this BETA release. In some cases placeholders have been implemented so that we can concentrate on the more important gameplay aspect of the mod to ensure we get it right first.

As with any BETA release, the quality of future releases now lies with you, the community, and the feedback you provide. As is normal with any Project Reality release, we will not take on any feedback for at least 2 weeks. This time period will allow players to adapt and fully understand the PR:ARMA2 gameplay concept before commenting. Therefore, the feedback forums will remain locked for the next 2 weeks.

New Features and Changes

While this release is primarily focused on BETA testing, you can still find some new Project Reality additions and features in the PR:ARMA2 v0.15 BETA release.

  • Many bug fixes
  • Performance and network optimisation
  • Added US Army faction
  • New missions, including 6 on Chernarus
  • Game mode modifications
  • New vehicle maintenance and cargo systems
  • Woodland FV510 Warrior
  • Familiar weapon switching system using number keys
  • Battle preparation time

For a complete, comprehensive list of all the new features and changes in PR:ARMA2, please view the following forum thread:

Known Bugs and Issues

Over the last 6 months of development, the v0.15 BETA build has undergone extensive testing by our in-house testing team. However, inevitably some bugs remain. We encourage you to make yourselves aware of these known bugs so that they we do not get repetitive bug reports. All currently known bugs are listed in the following forum thread:

Project Reality: ARMA 2 Mod Support

If you encounter any problems while installing and/or playing PR:ARMA2, please check out the Project Reality Mod Support forum. If your problem has not already been posted by someone else or is not in the above known bug list, please do not hesitate to start a new thread asking for help. We will do everything we can to provide you with a solution, but we can't do anything if you don't ask first!

Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 BETA Servers

As with the previous release, we will not be publicly releasing any server files. This will ensure that the official servers are populated and therefore will provide us with better overall feedback. Once the BETA has finished, we will open up server license applications as usual. We hope to bring that to you very soon!

The following organizations/communities have kindly agreed to provide servers during the v0.15 BETA test and are classed as the Official PR Servers for the duration of this BETA phase:

Alpha Networks Official PR v0.1 Beta Test Server [@PR 0.15]
Rusty In Places - Official PR v0.1 Beta Test Server [@PR 0.15]
Tactical Gamer - Official PR v0.1 Beta Test Server [@PR 0.15]
Kellys Heroes - Official PR v0.1 Beta Test Server [@PR 0.15]
Sisu Server - Official PR v0.15 Beta Test Server [@PR 0.15]
BigD Gaming Community / AEF - Official PR v0.15 Beta Test Server [@PR 0.15]

Project Reality: ARMA 2 v0.15 BETA Credits

The Project Reality Team would like to extend the usual thanks. First and foremost, to Alpha Networks, for providing the Project Reality development team with critical test and build servers. Without their support, PR:ARMA2 v0.15 BETA and future development would not be possible.

We would also like to thank the entire PR community, the wider ARMA2 news community and last (but certainly not least!) Bohemia Interactive for supporting Project Reality over the past couple of years.

We hope you enjoy this release and we look forward to the feedback everyone provides!

Do you really think that way? So, if there is a mod for a game, there could be no other mod with similar ideas but different gameplay?

Pure ignorance. You sorely misunderstand what this mod is about.

Project Reality doesn't simply aim for "realism". The name is just a working-title that has stuck since it was merely an experimental mini-mod for BF2.

Regardless of whether the base platform is BF2 or ARMA the mod aims to enhance coordinated teamplay, sophisticated tactics and team strategy incorporating logistics. All in a single package consistent across multiple servers.

Of course ARMA already has certain *realistic* features that BF2 lacked but gameplay mechanics and a common playerbase are different matters.

Will the update eventually be deployed onto Desura?

Regardless, HECK YEAH! Bring on the hyper-realistic gameplay which is Project Reality: ARMA 2!

I wouldn't say "hyper-realistic" yet.

Maybe by the time they get to 1.0 yes, but as of now it's not.

You'll also need to own the original ARMA2 and patch it up to the latest version so you can turn your ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead installation into an ARMA2: Combined Operations installation - which is what this mod requires. Once you've gotten ARMA2 and patched it up to the latest version, go look at the readme in your ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead directory for instructions on how to combine ARMA2 with ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead, thus creating an ARMA2: Combined Operations installation.

Looking great so far, but really will be a hard job to get anywhere near ACE + ACRE in terms of realism.

Thats the lamest mod ever. It has zero new models, just some reskins. And all that it does concerning "realism scripts" is done better by ACE.
