Welcome to another update this time in "2011 VISION." (patent pending) In this update we have a couple videos, some new tank renders, and some never before seen screens of nmo_chinatown. First up is a demonstration video of our inventory system voiced by Dman757. Next up is an animation video of the newly made 1911. Before last we have two renders of some armored vehicles (abrams & APC) along with a watertower. Finally we have some screenshots from nmo_chinatown being made by Sotapoika.

Introduction

Welcome to another update this time in "2011 VISION." (patent pending) In this update we have a couple videos, some new tank renders, and some never before seen screens of nmo_chinatown. nmo_chinatown

A new map in the works by SotaPoika. It takes place as the name suggests in a section of Chinatown in New York. The map is still a work in progress but the section shown below is pretty well along enough to show.

Animators?

I'm kind of baffled by the drop ammo system. Seems like alot of unnecessary work for the player. Why not just have a keybind that drops a clip of ammo from your currently selected weapon each time you tap it?

I think the ammo system is fantastic, you wouldn't want it to drop the type you have selected because what if an ally needs some different type of ammo you have? I think from looking at it for the first time it might seem a bit complicated but in time it will probably just become second nature to drop certain ammo. I think it adds a lot more depth to the game great job guys!

then select the gun you want to give him ammo for and drop ammo from that one . I mean, you have to select the weapon anyway to "find out" what type of ammo it uses right?

You won't necessarily have a gun in which you have ammo for. (We might make it easier to know which ammo goes for which gun. As I said its still WIP)

I see. Didn't realize you could pick up ammo for guns you weren't carrying... Won't this open the door for hoarders / jerks who just grab everything they can and don't share?

Play Zombie Panic Source. The only thing I don't like is when I know when fixed ammo spots are, such as rifle ammo is, and I go to run over and grab it, and it's all gone. It's not because someone's griefing though, they're sincerely team players and they packmueled the ammo to some barricaded spot and dropped it for their teammates. Problem is, I don't sit in barricades, I fight it out. I have the only rifle, and I'm barricaded out because I didn't want to be in it. That's the only bad thing that really happens. If it's like ZPS you move slower with more that you carry, so if they are hoarding ammo they're moving as slow as a snail. I remember a couple of times they realized no one had rifles in their barricade so I traded my pistol ammo for boxes of rifle ammo and we were both happy. I love moments like that to ZPS, adds surrealism

Maybe there will be a votedrop mechanic... plus I'd imagine that hoarding ammo would slow you down.

In games like Perfect Dark and more recently Assassins Creed 2, when you highlight the weapon you want, its very noticeable. I think you guys should have something like those 2 games have, where from the middle of your screen, something pans to the option you have highlighted, that way it's a bit easier to identify "ok I'm highlighting THIS here". Rather than simply dimming the options not on.

Perfect had a box that would be delayed by a second and move where you were and AC2 had a wide, transparent white "beam" from the middle to what you were selecting. I think you guys should take this approach, with perhaps a reddish, transparent, but short "beam".

Otherwise the vids and map screens look great.

Hey guys looking at your inventory system, will you support gamepads like the 360 one?

We discussed this early on, as even some of my friends have requested 360 gamepad support (their personal preference) and although the Source engine does support it, NMRiH has too many buttons really to work on a gamepad. There were some other software limitations to do with the SDK and what it would/wouldn't let you do with the controller or something like that... I don't quite remember though.

Have you guys tried using number keys as another alternative to mouse clicking in the inventory system?

For me, using number keys to access certain items in an inventory is much faster once I get used to it.

That isn't to say mouse clicking should be removed.

Overall, I like the ideas and the media releases. Keep it up!
