Post news Report RSS New vehicles coming to the next TerraTech demo!

A detailed look at the new vehicle parts that you'll be building with in the next TerraTech demo, which is coming to IndieDB next week!

Russ, Kris and Sai Wun have been hard at work preparing new TerraTech vehicles for fans to experiment with at MCM Expo: London Comic Con. Here are the new construction pieces you can look forward to.

If you can't make it to Comic Con in London this weekend, you can still download our previous demo on IndieDB.

TerraTech Pre-Alpha Demo 2, for PC & Mac!

Wings

The first new parts are the wings. These are designed to add more depth and more variety to the Flight Challenge and to vehicle construction in general. In the upright position they add lift to vehicles, making them easier to control in flight, but if you invert the wings you can use them to create downforce like the spoiler on a racing car. A great way to get extra grip and improved cornering in the Checkpoint Challenge!

Here's Kris, pulling off a loop-de-loop using the wings.

And here he is using the wings to control his vehicle in flight, travelling far further and with much more finesse than was possible in previous builds

Big boosters

To bring some more speed to the game, the guys have designed these much larger rocket boosters. The original, smaller boosters are still in the game, but these add a new dimension to jet propulsion! Use them for a verticle launch, or combine them with the wings for fast flight, or incredibly quick ground speed using inverted wings for downforce.

Of course, if you try to use the big boosters on the ground without any downforce, you're not going to get the best results!

Hover fans

After we introduced the hover pads at Gadget Show Live, we quickly discovered that they made the tanks quite difficult to drive, so now we've added some proper propulsion for the hover tanks to make them easier to control. The hover fan turns your tank into a full on hovercraft when you combine it with the old hover pads underneath your vehicle.

Finally, because Kris is a bit childish, he's built this monstrosity! Absolutely covered in wings and boosters and not going anywhere fast. This is probably a good idea of what not to do when you play our next demo at MCM Expo: Comic Con London, or later next week when we release it on IndieDB.

Such an amazingly well done game so far. Everyone has cool ideas, but not everyone can turn those ideas into a fun game. I really, really want to preorder, kickstart, early access, give you some money for this game. Looks like Rawbots (minus the complexity of visual programming) plus open world exploration and mining plus vehicle sim and combat in a nice fun package (oh and some Captain Forever). This has just become my #1 game to look forward to.

Someone should make an incinerator vehicle to utilize that feature, if implemented.

Thanks mik3k! Excellent Invade Zim avatar by the way. We'll have some Kickstarter details in the near future so you'll be able to contribute soon :)
