Apart from the massive flood of visitors voting for their favorite mods in 2006, it has been a quiet news week. I blame last minute XMAS shopping! Anyhow...
Mod DB Stuff
- Phase 2 Mod of the Year voting has gone absolutely crazy with over 27,000 votes logged in the past week. There are only 10 days of voting left, so if you haven't already picked your TOP 3 mods - you better get busy!
- The December Mod Newsletter is about to go out, so if you want to receive a summary of key mod news in your mailbox each month, signup on ModDB.com (top right menu).
Other Stuff
- It isn't quite a mod anymore - but Counter-Strike (a mod which spawned about 5,000 more) is about to begin showing ads. Its is an interesting topic for discussion... what are your thoughts?
- For the Total War modders out there, a CAS Exporter (models / animations exporter) was released today.
- The IGF Mod of the Year competition has shortlisted its top few mods of 2006. Their list looks quite different from ours - will be interesting to see how the winners stack up!
Video of the Week
If this trailer does not put a smile on your face, nothing can. Drawn to be alive is an amazingly creative mod... it is projects like this which really show how far modding has come and how far it can go. Watch the vid:
I wonder if the IGF guys will ask us to contribute judges again.
The selection to choose from last year was rather lame, though.
Great news post... No Valve! Don't follow in the footsteps of EA
wow! 27.000 votes!... This is gonna be exciting :D!
Indeed it will be :)
Damn that shopping.
I love you db network!
Cool. Hope my mod got a part of that :)
IGF's mod of the year looks to be nothing more than an ad for "Guildhall at SMU".
None of the Doom 3/Q4 mods are from the school (us doomers are to cool for school!).
Now, this message has been brought to you by the USA ARMY, proud Sponcers of Valve's original creation, Counter Strike. Please enter in your debit/CC info to continue playing (just razing about the NEXT possible way to get gamers to pay: $0.25 per game like in arcades! :p )
LOL @ Happy Friar. ;)
