This time "block" is actually referring to the neighbourhood where people live IRL. Let me explain.

During the 50′s and 60′s Sweden was suffering housing shortage due to a fast growing population. In 1965 the Swedish government decided to build 1 million apartments in areas outside of the major cities, which nowadays is referred to as the "The million programme". Today these housing projects are in urgent need of restoration and modernization.

"Mina Kvarter" (english: My Blocks) is a project initiated by Svensk Byggtjänst with the aim to build a sustainable future for the million programme housing and townscape. Basically, to make these places attractive to live in.

What does this have to do with Minecraft you may ask? Well, one corner stone of the "My Blocks" project is to give the people who live in these areas the opportunity to be part of shaping their future neighbourhood. That's where Minecraft comes into play; giving people a tool to visualize their ideas of how they want to change their part of town.

Citizens of Fisksätra shaping the future of their block

Volunteers from the Minecraft community have already built replicas of these areas on servers where citizens are invited to remove, build and reshape constructions, parks and roads etc. Several property owners and construction companies have already committed to use these ideas as basis for the decision making around the reshaping of these projects.

Do you live in one of these areas and wanna join in? Join the Facebook page [Swedish] or read more on Byggtjänst web site [also Swedish].

so everyone that is black is given a laptop and assumed to be in need of help and given free copies of a kids game to build lego structures of thier neibour hood.

I'm sure they will be very happy at their recreation of a home and stuff, but if they really live in bad environment then maybe they would feel better if u worked on their home or something not give them a game which they don't even have a laptop to play on (looks like they were given those laptops because they were all identical) And why u find all black guys? is Sweden a racist area because i am sure there is like 1 white guy u could of found. Just bunch of black guys which seem to be in need of help given a kids game to forget about their lives with white people and a Asian guy standing around them studying what they do, just creates a image of racism.

Everyone, please be very careful when posting. I shan't tolerate racism, and some of the comments are getting close to it. a few needing to be deleted because of that too.

the idea itself is nice, but minecraft isn't really suited for such a thing imo, they should give them some sort of simplified level editor instead

Maybe most are black because I dunno, they just happened to take a picture of a bunch of black people using the program?

If they took a picture of the all white row, then there would be no problem. But since they are black everyone is running in circles trying to find a way to call people racist.
