The Mod Database menu system has just been overhauled to improve this sites ease of use. I think everyone will agree that this site is confusing at the best of times. I mean it's bad enough without menus dissapearring and re-appearing all the time, so we've decided to keep the lefthand menu, (complete with search box) permanently shown and ready to use!
Let me know what you think and I hope everyone continues to enjoy the regular updates to this site, which shall continue happening as we move towards launching our all mighty mod download service!

Its a good idea but it feels too cluttered on certain pages.
ye, the mod pages become kinda small...
i tried it on 1024*768 and i think it works fine. Any lower than that and your in trouble mind you.
It might take some getting used to, but i think its an improvement. Espically for all the new site visitors.
Well , anyone browsing lower than 1024*768 should not be taken into consideration, because , tbh, who has a monitor smaller than 15" anymore? and if someone says they do, SHUSH ;(

maybe you can add a checkbox or w/e on the options page of a user? It would be enabled by default, and if checked off the menu will return to its previous behaviour.

Yea, it would be great to turn the left side menu on or off in your cp... although it would be better that you can turn each part on the side-menu's on or off... I've got nothing against the side menu on all pages of moddb.com, it's just an suggestion ;)
I dont like it either. Takes up too much room. I already keep a window open on the side of my browser. I would agree that an option button would be the best. If thats not possible I would just do away with it. I never had any trouble navigating the site.

I feel Ok with the current design.
I guess I'll get used to it, but having an option in the control panel to turn it off, as others suggested, would be very nice.

yes. please make either an option to change it or switch back to the old layout as this new bar on the left heavily messes up member profiles as well as mod profiles. the old layout had much more space. you know that scrolling a lot downwards is considered bad webpage-layouting. before you didn't need that much of scrolling. now it's like a tall, tin women you pulled even taller on her hair! >_<
I will add an option to toggle it on/off for members. I think all new visitors to this site will enjoy the new menu.. its just hard for the veterans to appreciate

Perhaps I should code the menu, so that it is shown to guests, since they will be struggling to navigate the site, but normal menu functionality should be shown to members?
Lets take a vote... have it toggable, or hide it for members?
Although its cool i personally dont need it on every page. So i vote guests only. It all really depends on user pref so an option seems the best route in the end though

Nice work, but it is very annoying and distracting. I see why you put it there though; I know how the quest for eternal optimized site navigation goes :P
