Seeing as this mod has only just been posted here and we barely have started work on it, i will post some map progress images up every now and then to keep you guys interested, a near complete story shall be posted within the next few days, we will keep you guys up to date with the mod progress as much as possible.
always great to new Hl2 sp-mods being started, so i will track your project. please consider next time to compile your maps fast or fully and show screens and or movies of that. Because the screen above does show no shadows what makes it really less interesting. and a fast compile does only take 1 sec. extra to do. just a thought,...
success,
Leon
the reason why there is no shadows because i have not added a sun or any lighting yet, thx for the suggestion tho, we will try to keep you posted on our progress
it is quit easy to add a light, as far as i can see is this a outdoor map scene. for that you just need to add a light_environment and you have light in your map (like it is coming from the sun). set the "Pitch"
setting in the property window of the light_environment to -90 or less.
(-90 is light straight down, -80 is light from a angle down, etc).
you don't need to add a sun yet, the sun entitie doesn't give light itself, it only gives a sun flare at the sky.
should you have any questions then please ask, i am also a hammer mapper and am mapping for quit some time now.
much success,
Leon
Really great to see an experienced modder give some advice. I'll be tracking this as well. I expect great things ;)
Hey, thx for the advice, i do know how to put light in and that the env_sun doesnt give light, i just ment that i have not put any light in yet so that the compile process does not take as long, i will message you for any help but so far i am good, thx anyway :)
even with a ton of lights as long as the woerld is built right and you use no draw and etc etc the compile shouldnt take long under fast, even if you sacrifice HDR option too, still should be quick.
Mrksmt9 is right, but just map as you feel is best.
although i personaly always right from the start do work in the right lightning because as we all know is the right lightning a very big part of the admosphere you create.
and thanks Spooboy for your comment;
