New month, new news! Here's the roundup for this week!
The big news! As if you hadn't heard already, Iron Grip won Editors Choice for Innovation in ModDB's Mod Of The Year contest! In addition, we also won second place in popularity for cross-genre mods! With 4000 mods in the competition, those are very impressive awards! Read more about it HERE!
Next, since it's always nice to have some eye candy, a shoutout to Mister-Dan, a forum goer and artist who did two great-looking pieces for us! Entitled "The Sentry" and "The Grenadier" respectively. They've got great color and brushwork and the team is honored by the gifts! Visit www.isotx.com to see the other!
Next, the news most of you have probably been waiting for: the changelog for Iron Grip 1.31. It's too long to post here on ModDB, so visit THE ISOTX SITE for more details!
In other Iron Grip news, the Gaming Days program is back on track, and is likely to feature mini-competitions in the coming weeks! Come online and play on Saturdays for your chance to win prizes! We're also holding a Favorite Map competition every month where, for a dollar, you can select your favorite Iron Grip map. All the proceeds will go to the winning mapper as an added incentive to produce more! In addition, the Weekly Media section is again being updated regularly. Check back to see new humorous or spectacular screenshots. If you have a screenshot you like, send it in and we'll use it!
Finally, a bit of comedy. Puzzlemaker, one of our über-1337 coders, has been experimenting with squad-based logic for Iron Grip 1.5. There were some bugs and flaws in some of the initial attempts, and I sometimes wonder if he's secretly a German mad scientist. Apparently one of his first tries to do squads involved feeding the poor conscript guinea pigs Teleportation Caffeine Juice. Fortunately, most of the conscripts survived the cruel experiment (only to be gunned down by Ronius Diagran a few seconds later...)
That's all for tonight ladies and gentlemen! Enjoy the updates, and I'll see you on the battlefield!
Does this mean no squad system? :(
There will be a squad system :) This was our first step into the squad system, it has improved a lot since then.
The squad system prototype is like a bizzare version of Conway's Life :P
Looking good gents, glad to see you aren't simply resting on your laurels!
That squad logic video is quite funny.
