The standard Neo Terran bomber has an impressive record of service in the United Terran Forces. This craft, an older design, was retrofitted for use in the Nova War. It is armed with an ion energy condenser, a closely guarded secret of the UTF. This condenser forms pulses of ion energy similar to those emitted by the UTF Ion Cannon. These pulses are slow moving and explode violently on impact, vaporising the thick hull plating on capital ships. They also have considerable range, allowing for a skilled bomber pilot to deal damage to a corvette well outside it's flak range. This makes the bomber the only practical way of directly damaging capital ships or corvettes.

The high energy needs of this weapon force the UTF Bomber to carry gigantic capacitors which it's reactor can recharge only slowly. This forces the bomber to retreat from combat after depleting it's energy reserves. Sacrificing speed and maneuverability for sheer power, the UTF Bomber is one of the slower craft in the UTF Tactical Navy. It also carries little armour, opting instead for a powerful energy shield, allowing it to recover from flak hits and small weapons fire quickly between bombing runs.

The UTF Bomber is an easy target when it isn't escorted, and in practise, bomber pilots always have at least one fighter escort to protect them from enemy craft. They are the most important ships of any squadron, and pilots will risk their lives to allow bombers to deliver their deadly payload. In the event a bomber is caught in a dogfight, it is equipped with a small scatter cannon which provides a rapid-fire spray of bullets, however this weapon is of limited use for anything more than destroying an already crippled tactical ship or taking down weakly armoured turrets.

Depends, the current release is nearly a year old so it really only gets populated (usually no more than 10 players though) on weekends and at night, however around release the servers have always been packed for the following months
