Alright...so basically the major silence from me for a long time is not toally my fault. I am finally going to break the silence as to what has been going on.
My Beta Testers got eaten...or they fell off the face of the Earth. I sent out 12 copies of GaW 2.1 to 12 separate testers, and all 12 testers, 1 by 1...drifted away into nothingness, and stopped reporting back to me.
I decided to give them time, but their time is now officially up. Believe me...I am holding onto those names and I am blacklisting those people from future beta tests.
Another problem I have been faced with was my map designer. I found someone to make the IGC space maps, but they "lost" all the maps when their computer crashed (This is why we use partitions and make backups kids). I decided to give my mapper more time to remake the maps...but he decided to drift away as well.
Where does that leave us?
I can release a fully public Beta RIGHT NOW...or I can be my own beta tester.
If I release 2.1 beta RIGHT NOW...there will be glitches, and you guys will have to report them to me.
If I delay more, and beta test myself (which will be a slow process) I can release an almost perfect 2.1
The choice is up to the community. Post a response with either "Public Beta" or "Delay Release"
=========================================
Either way...I am down for it.
Public Beta i say-You might get some reports :)
Public help you get it done faster and stop my mouth from watering. Also betas are ment for testing and reporting glitches it is what a beta is for.
i would like a near perfect but can put up with reporting bugs
I don't minid when you'll be releasing this :) Btw. I can help with making the IGC maps
I would also be able to help with testing. I am also reliable
Go Public Beta, if you include a bug report thread and clearly state everywhere you can to report bugs there then you'll get thorough feedback :)
public beta, we all know its in beta stage and wont go mad over glitches and bugs etc. also the community owns you one.
public would be best while were finding bugs and that you can be fixing them
I was gonna say every mod I've waited for has been worth it...reading everyone else's comments is making me lean towards public beta though - as long as you don't think it's gonna be overflowing with bugs - public beta would be cool
People are saying public beta just cause they want the game... I reckon another closed beta is the way to go.... just make sure that the testers can be trusted...
Akon sang that song "I take the blame on me but the blames of you". :)
I wait 12 years for Duke Nukem so I think I can wait Galaxy at War so my vote DELAY RELEASE ;)
NakedCrook. Ask yourself this question and then think hard of the answer:
"Is my mod stable enough to allow a public beta test??"
If your answer is a 100% yes then go ahead. However, if your in any doubt at all that there may be a bug or two, no matter how small, then try to continue to bug test yourself.
If you end up with a couple of thousand downloads thats a lot of information to trawl through. Thats one fo the reasons I alpha and beta test myself.
Public beta
I don't have problems with glitchy games while I know it gets fixed when I report it
Public Beta. Let us be your testers! Just tell us what to expect out of 2.1
I would be willing to test. A public beta is a good thing. That is what Google + is doing. lol
I think a public beta would be fantastic for everyone.
hey im here
alwalys in moddb and when i check the other website i see nothing new
Wow...lots of comments in what...a few hours...
Well, MAPayne has a point. While lots of people would support a public Beta, he does make a valid point about it being stable ENOUGH.
Here is what I am gonna do:
I am gonna pack my current version of GaW 2.1, get it uploaded to a 3rd party file sharing website. While it uploads, I will run through all of GaWs game modes, and do one final run-through for any serious game breaking bugs. If I don't encounter any (which is very easy to say) then I can begin a Moddb upload, and post a link for the current beta version, so the rest of you guys can track down the minor things, like minor imbalances, or HP errors.
Fair enough?
more than fair it's your mod - thanks for taking the time to listen to input from your fans about which direction to go next(making us beg lol)
Sounds good to me!!
thanks dude, we will not let you down ;)
public beta, i will try my best and report any glitches i see
Public Beta, I would be fine with some glitches.
Public Beta, I would be happy with glitches. I can report bugs and glitches to you.
Public better
public better more people looking for glitches
yeah, i say public beta. because it would be much harder for the entire public to disappear.
really like this mod, so please dont scrap it just because some of the people you trusted with parts of it didnt hold their end of the deal.
PS: Do A Barrel Roll!
umm if theres less bugs then 2.0 well actually. for me i had alot of bugs. all of the ships names were misssing for the new factions and the factions names were missing. but anyways yea releas public beta i will test and i will report alot of bugs :( cuase it will kinda make me mad like the ai upgrade there base instently in 2.0 for me so in about 2mins im in a war that normaly you would be in about 30mins into the game i upgrade at the normal rate but ai do it instantly and alot of the new clases crash the game.
i cant wait until galaxies at war 3.0 comes out
there is a bug for galactic conquest. if i play for a long time it crashes
and says a unsuspected ERROR has happened can you fix that bug in the next gaw
i am good at inspecting a game in and out and i can report back frequently just pm if your interestwed also a public beta
