Hello all,
Today I would like to share with you one of our early concept draft tracks: the Hell's Kitchen ambient music. While the finished, in-game form will sound similar, this particular tune is firmly from the Work-In-Progress archive.
We've designed our arrangement around a comprehensive soundtrack comparable in scale to the original, with additional subtle (and not-so-subtle) variations in key places; as the story becomes richer and darker, so too does the music. In broad terms we're aiming to ensure that while we are faithful to the core sound of Deus Ex, we're also bringing the music in a more atmospheric and coherent direction.
We aren't replacing the original material. While Revision will install the new soundtrack alongside the old and default to using it, reverting to the original music is as easy as deleting a particular folder. We know our work might not be to your taste, and that's fine.
For those of you who missed it the first time, here's another track that we've made public: A near-final version of our Wan Chai Market music!
That about does it for this post. Take care, and we'll see you next time.
The music is great. I hope you'll release OST with the mod.
The only OST I would probably buy.
Alas, it is worthy to be sold in the indie record store in the downtown metropolitan area.
Wait for the UNATCO soundtrack :)
Really liking the music; it is sufficiently different to capture a different atmosphere in the track itself, yet still familiar enough to feel like a Deus Ex tune. Well done guys, looking forward to the full soundtrack.
i would so love to help out with this mod, its so amazing
the NYC is good, you might want to make the wan chai market music a little more traditionalistic... but it is pretty good still.
nice work.
I really liked the music. True to the original, yet different. Very well done!
Both the tracks are great and superior to the originals. I don't agree the wan chai market music should be traditionalist; it was important to reinvent Hong Kong and its sound through the themes of the game and, in that spirit, maybe become even more ambient and new agey. That the influences of traditional music show through represents the new merging with the old. The track as it is now is very floaty and airy, as opposed to new york which has a certain headiness and forward movement to it. These reflect possible themes underlying the main narrative and diversify its emotional range.
