Hi everyone !
You were a lot to download Get A Life, and we hope you enjoyed it.
But
some people complains about the difficulty of the mod and some bugs.
Even if the beta-tests helps to reduce the number of bugs, when a mod
is released there are often surprises, and GAL was no exception to the
rule.
We thought about it, and today we' re releasing patch that brings two modifications :
-For those who finds the mod to hard, they can totally desactivate the bleeding system by a simple manipulation. Clic here to see the illustration
-Correction of script bugs, abnormal deaths, bleeding or abnormal vision during the
first chapter and correction of certain bugs during the second chapter
Also
some people suffer from crashes that we cannot solve, this problems
happens in lots of mods currently. It is because of the Source SDK base
from the new steam version (we advise you to disable it) or from the
soundcache.
For those who have the new version of steam, while we are waiting for a patch, use these tips to play :
-Launch the mod
-In the graphic options, choose "windowed mod"
-Launch the first map
-When the map's loaded, choose "full screen mod" in your graphid options menu.

Once again very informative, I'm honestly disappointed that you made a fix to remove the bleeding. Other then that great work on the patch!
At least it's optional though. And the method of disabling it is quite humorous.
actually they gave you the option to turn off the bleeding. The bleeding system however is broken, since you bleed constantly in the first few maps, but after that you don't bleed any more. it's nice to see a patch come out for some of these problems :).
i beat it just fine on hard mod. The difficulty was just perfecto :D
Great mod i must say as well.
Great method of disabling the blood!! A great mod, I don't know why people complains, it's not too difficult.
Dude can you add an objects thing please? i spend so much time fighting off people i forget what im looking for or where to go. like i can spend 5-10 minutes on some maps where the fighting isnt too intense but on the maps where danger is around every corner i spend waaay too much time at it.
objectives* sorry
1.1 crashes when attempting to start a new game during the loading screen for me.
Nevermind, crash had nothing to do with this mod.
Nice job on getting a patch out this quickly! I'm still through my first play through though.
This patch won't butcher my saved games right?
Oh well, I already got past the first few chapters and I also don't mind the bleeding at all. I almost never use bandages anyway. I do get the occasional glitch where the blood on the screen never goes away though.
P.S. - What incentive is there to heal the chest+torso if bleeding was removed? Don't disable it peeps!
LOL that is funny!
I will only disable bleeding if it is a real pain in the arse.
First I will play the mod and the patch and see how it goes, if it's a bit ridiculous, I'll probably either be stubborn and keep trying with the challenge, or i'll give up and disable bleeding.
Got no idea what to do on "final boss" (Think he is final boss at least (the guy that looks like you and hovers in the air)). So far I got past the 2nd time he said "Do you like bugs, Alex" and then I'm sorta stuck. I had a shot on one of the beams but were only able to destroy the red (lower) beam. Help :P
Well yes I have seen, that people are complaining about the bleed effect, but why didnt i never had problems whit it? dont know. But got to say this: THIS IS A MASTERPIECE. The gameplay is great, mapping is outstanding and modelling and skinnign has been sucessfully filled their places! The storyline was what it was, but overal results knocked me out of my chair!
Extremely good gaming experience!
I can not thank whomever is responsible for this mod enough. From all of you who spend countless hours putting these mods together, to your parents for having ya !! in all seriousness, getting nothing but praise in return for your work & sometimes negativity from others (who i guess have nothing else better to do but complain about things they get for free)is really apreaciated. this mod is just as good if not better than 80 percent of the games you buy on the market today. the blood thing & the shaking confused me in the begining but once i realized what was going on & got the hang of things, this mod is freakin AWSOME !! i hope you all excuse me for my rampage, i usually just download & play without any comments but i just had to put my 2 cents in for this one if you know what i mean. thanks again, & to all of ya out there who might be sayin "man this guy's gotta "Get a Life" well I got 1 !!
This 1.1 version includes more bugs, I can't even see normal gates anymore. Instead there's a yellow thingy with ERROR written in it. :S
I went into bullet time just before a new stage load on accident, and now I'm stuck in bullet time for the rest of the game.
Yeah, same thing happened to me.
I'm close to completing GAL and haven't encoutered any serious bugs or crashes so far. So havent bothered to install the patch.
Really good Total conversion.
I like the Valve standard map design and scripting.
They have tried to introducing many new 'ish' ideas.
Some work well, like the cut screens and the health system.
Bullet time was a nice addition on paper, but it is flawed and not really needed.
The other thing to note, is that alot of the game characters are just HL2 characters with new skins. Hence the combat is not great, but thats because Valve didn't make the enemy AI that good.
