It is with great regret that I have to close the downloads and addons section of this profile.

I had hoped and hoped that I would not have to do this. Most uploads are good. But, I simply cannot allow the dirt houses, piracy attempts and horrific texture packs through anymore.

I will reopen this section if ModDB allows game "creators" to authorise the downloads personally, as well as ModDB authorising them. That way, I can accept and decline what is uploaded, rather than let it get through instantly. Until such a time, this game has become so popular, that by the time I have got to the download, hundreds have viewed it, and tens of them have unwatched. All due to one texture pack that someone with the worst paint skills can easily surpass.

I am honestly overwhelmed by the huge amount of visitors. I was only an author of two failing Portal mod profiles before this profile, and did not expect it to explode like it has. Because of the visitor counts, I simply cannot let these downloads submitted by the few, ruin it for the many.

I am leaving the mod section open. I hope it has better luck surviving. But downloads and addons are no longer open.

If you have further issues, comments or suggestions, please feel free to leave a comment!

The trolls are too many to handle. If the users are given more tools, as soon as someone makes an account, for fighting with the trolls, many problems will occur due to misunderstandings.
All the related sites have a solution- with points: the more people like your posts (add-ons, downloads, comments, e.t.c.)- the more points; the more points- the bigger the abilities. And vise versa (the more dislikes, the more points you loose). For example: once you get 200000 points, you can close topics, delete downloads, comments, and so on. If you are good for some time, and suddenly become bad, you start loosing points and abilities.

Good call, it isn't your job to filter so many uploads. Moddb should have a way to give permissions to specific groups or users who have to apply

My suggestion : create a group called Minecraft downloads and get some guys who want to slave, filtering those download to...filter them.. :D

Also it would be nice if kizzycocoa had a power of just yelling: YOU SHALL NOT PASS! and then all the bad addons, downloads would be gone...

Thanks Kizzy, a shame this course of action had to be taken, but with just plain utterly terrible things that have been uploaded, it's completely understandable.

1 answer multiple admins, if ur struggling and cant handle the amount of people that watch and visit simply find more admins really no need in stopping something that what makes a profile on mod db unique that is feedback and uploading of images, files, feedback. sure some uploads look like they were made by 10 years old which is normaly exactly the reason since most minecraft fans prob would be around that age group.

is there anyone here you can 100% trust to run a profile reaching thousands of views daily? someone you can completely trust to not destroy it or play around?

I can only name two. the admins of ModDB. :P

dear god that looks amazing.

but, unfortunately, I have to keep it shut. I wanted to update my map, but I cannot do that either. x.x

I'm going to contact ModDB. see if I can't ask them to develop something.

in the meantime, I would authorise that RE2 map as a mod. PM me if you want any further help, if you choose that route.
