Greetings, everyone, and welcome to our fifth development blog for Red Wars 2. In this blog we will be showcasing the Sargoth Republic. We will be going over the faction's lore, playstyle, troops, and more.
The far north would not escape Calradia's troubles. Plagued by a cold puppet government, a rebellious citizenry, and foreign invasion, the Sargoth Republic struggles to maintain its existence as the continent's only democracy. Abandoned oil rigs and empty seas dot the once bustling northern coast. Across the western ocean, the Balion Commonwealth and its allies work to support the Nords' independence from the ever-expanding forces of communism and fascism. However, in their quest to maintain an ideological foothold in Calradia, Commonwealth leaders remain blind to the plight of the Nordic people.
Nordland is harsh and devoid of many key natural resources, historically relying on trade for much-needed food and raw materials. These troubled times have cut nearly every land trade route the Nords have. The Commonwealth, while loaded with military hardware, will not spare much else. Unwilling or unable to supply the Nords with the resources necessary for survival, Commonwealth ships arrive at the port city of Kulumberg to a chorus of mass protest from starving Nords. These ships rarely contain anything beyond finished military hardware. The sight of Nordic soldiers equipped with cutting edge technology as the world around them descends into squalor fills the urban people with rage. These angry citizens are often recruited into radical parties promising change and revolution. Often these groups will field partisan militias, roaming the Nordic lands; destroying infrastructure in the name of revolution and preying on all those they deem ideologically impure.
The massive industrial farms that once dominated the rural landscape have since been abandoned or burned, either by partisans or foreign invaders. Rocky soil, blistering cold, and outdated equipment make agriculture different. Most is done by village communities, who produce little surplus for urban centers.
Army, Power & Politics
The Nords field a small, professional army, equipped with advanced weaponry supplied by Commonwealth trade ships. The Nordic Defense Force is known for countering superior numbers with raw offensive firepower. Its infantry makes good use of foreign rocket launchers and machine guns to annihilate those who would overwhelm their position. The average Nord soldier is hardened by constant warfare with his countrymen and foreign invaders; those lost are generally replaced by village dwellers eager to escape poverty.
Puppeted by foreign powers, the Republic is run by a well-meaning but weak parliament. Most parliamentarians are Balion sympathizers, puppets, or weak radicals. The Republic has signed a series of rather one-sided treaties with its Western allies; while these treaties compromise Nordic independence and free trade, they provide the Republic with much-needed military support, without which the Nords certainly would have been victims of their expanding neighbors. The military, primarily led by Balionese generals, is able to act more or less independently of the Republican parliament. The frontiers are dominated by ambitious military leaders, cautiously regarded by village elders and prominent townsfolk, and openly despised by the urban working class.
In our next blog, we will talk about the Rhodoks.
Regards,
the Red Wars team.
I came.
You've failed No Nut November.
I like this. It's not a 1:1 recreation of WW2 Finland or even the Nordic countries but something original and different inspired by the inter war history of the said area. Also relieved that the M/31 Suomi-smg is confirmed
Come on @Reus. You can do it!
Your mod is AMAZING!
YES YES YES
The only way this module can get any better is to feature tanks and armored vehicles. Aaah, a man can dream.

THE HYPE IS REAL!
Wow, this makes me truly see the predicament of Calradia. could you add artillery from to the mod, it would certainly fit the theme somewhat.
another idea is a custom troop tree.
Will The Tsar, the Khan, and the Kaiser be able to reclaim their thrones
OK, This Is Epic
I hope the AI bugs will be fixed this time so we can play the mod.
Will there be vehicles or will it be exclusively infantry based combat?
