Ok, so a little bit later than scheduled (and we apologise for that), but here we are to serve you up another monthly update!
The Modern Combat team has reached some major milestones throughout the month of May, polishing the mod and bringing it closer and closer to something that resembles a finished product. Some of these milestones include:
-The overhaul and purging of over fifteen thousand existing U.S. speech files. All work on said files is now complete.
-The near-complete implementation of new weapon and vehicle sound effects, all thanks to the hard work of our resident sound engineer, Castus. Also, a heartfelt thankyou to our BF2-modding colleagues at Black Sand Studios, who kindly donated the vast majority of the effects, and without whom the mod wouldn't sound as great as it does!
-The successful coding of a vertical fire mode for the FGM-148 Javelin (which was one hell of a tricky job), courtesy of Darkbladecr.
Due to the nature of these changes, we don't have many pretty screenshots to bombard you with, but we do have a gameplay video instead. Along with the new sound effects and processed speech files, we'd also like to take the chance to show off some in-game footage of our previously re-modelled Bradley (model by DemoSS and Darkblacecr, skin by Chopin) and re-skinned Stryker (Knight of Ammo), as well as provide you with a brief glimpse of the aforementioned Javelin update.
Oh, and we threw in some firefights and explosions too. You guys like that kind of stuff, right?
So that's it for May, but don't forget to check our Homepage for any updates or previous press releases you might have missed!

superb eye candy...can i drive?
really can't wait for this!
Gameplay looks like standard CoH, would be great if it was like Blitzkrieg's gameplay at least :\
We are exactly aiming for standard CoH gameplay, cause we want this mod to be able to be played competitively. Blitzkrieg gampeplay wouldn't allow this.
Wouldn't it also be possible to consider a 'realism' version that includes Blitzkrieg-like gameplay in the future? I like where this is going but I also favor Blitzkrieg Mod's realism. In standard CoH, a group of Riflemen can suddenly charge at a MG team, throw a grenade under direct fire, and retreat losing possibly only one or two squad members. I can't play standard CoH gameplay anymore because of that.
Just saying that this Mod looks gorgeous and all, but it would be great to see how it handles when done on a realistic level. Also, Blitzkrieg CAN be played competitively. I don't know where your getting that. Multiplayer on Blitzkrieg is very fun and challenging; it's not just grenade spam enemy squads to win every confrontation.
We will not provide a realism version of the mod. It's up to other modders, if they like to do so. We will invest all our manpower into improving the mod even after release, by adding new features, tourney hosting, scripted level design, etc.
I am not saying that Blitzkrieg Mod is not fun in Multiplayer for some people. But it's not suitable for any competitive environment on the higher levels. Those high damage values and long ranges reduce the room for a large variety of different tactical movements, which WE think are essential for high level CoH play.
We can't make everyone happy.
Excellent work guys and looking forward to all of the speech files. Top job.
Javelin seems to be very strong, hope the price is high as well?
The setting was artificial, especially created to showcase animation and sounds.
I didn't do that much damage to the AA-Tank...
Will this be compatible with the CoH update 2.602?
yes
will this work on steam version? and will there be a single player?
Yeah... I own the Steam version of CoH, and it works perfectly for me.
As for SP, we'll be working on standalone scripted missions following release. As seen here:
Moddb.com
No guarantees though, of course... ;)
That Type-99 didn't stand a chance, even with first shot. Also, still funny to see modern armour chump their shots against a HUMVEE, it must be using the Puma glitch. :3
We still want to play CoH :P It's part of the game
very satisfying to watch :P
Would be cool if there was an expansion pack with fighting in my backyard. Marines and Russians please.
Mine too. Bandicoots vs. Chickens please.
Would you like fries with that, sir?
NO, i would like Cola and chickens, do you understand me? And please Modern Combat sauce.
Looks great! But the voices are unfitting, will you change them?
US voices have been changed. Chinese are work in progress (whether it will be chinese or englisch is not fixed yet)
chinese accent is probably the best way to go imo
Nice, it looks awesome :)
the natives are restless....
Eh? Read the frontpage for an explanation if you are waiting for a PR.
I guess there are some city maps right? Keep it up guys!
is there an exact release date?
It will be done, when it's done. We'll announce it when we have one.
