There has been no news for a long time. Unfortunately, the work goes not as fast as I want it to be. A massive project like this requires a lot of time and dedication.
Look at how much time FakeFactory have spent on the original Cinematic Mod. That tells us something doesn't it. Nevertheless, the work is being done, the content is being added and updated here and there.

Speaking of a content, I've been considering branching the mod in two separate versions - The "Basic Branch" and "Extended Branch". The branching is supposed to let players choose whatever version they want to play. Fancy looking original or completely revamped version with its own concept and ideas.

The "Basic Branch" (Cinematic Mod: Awakening - Origins (basic branch)) is supposed to satisfy the people who doesn't like the FakeFactory's character models and other non-canon things available in "Extended Branch".
What this means is that the "Basic Branch" will include as much vanilla content/assets as possible (but slightly updated here and there, no drastic changes), leaving only the visually enhanced maps and some visuals from original game. This also means a smaller download size for this "basic" version.
The "Extended Branch" (Cinematic Mod: Awakening) is the one I've been working on mainly last year. It will be the same as stated before. It will include all previously announced/shown changes, gameplay tweaks, updates, custom gameplay features etc.

Alright, let's talk about the progress achieved so far. I recently started working on updating and tweaking the Episodes.
To be more exact there will be changes to the Episodes maps similiar to how it's been demonstrated in the demo except for that I am experimenting on restoring some interesting maps from the cut content of Episodes 1 and 2, that was leaked a several months ago. Along with restoring of the beta maps of Episodes I am working on a couple of completely new locations as well.

And since I've mentioned the demo, I am planning on releasing the final update for it that is supposed to improve some parts of it. If everything will go according to plan, the v1.0 update for a demo will be released somewhere by the end of a year.

Also new alternate ways being added, player can choose how to act in different situations (for example help rebels or leave the battlefield) which will change the further events and maps you will play on. Many gameplay factors that change different circumstances, that player is going to face. Actions and manner of playing have consequences.

And here is one more thing I want to clarify. If anyone recently had issues with downloading mod from Google Drive, that's because Google decided to delete my files without notifying me about it. No reason present, so I have no idea what's wrong with that. The new downloads will be posted elsewhere from now on. I'll restore the downloads later.

That's it for now. Thanks for your attention.

Looks great. I hope it doesn't murder performance like I suspect it will.

This is all great news! Personally, I think you should focus your efforts on the "Extended Branch;" many mods already make HL2 look pretty, but what you've been working on is something special. Good luck with this, I can't wait to see more!

Don't rush it if you want to do the two versions I agree with Astraxis put most to all your effort on the "Extended Branch" so performance isn't hammered when switching between the two.
